Virginia AWB bill killed for the session

They kept fighting the good fight. Just because it passed the lower chamber in VA didn't mean it would pass the Senate. I'm sure they'll keep up the fight. Also, notice the dishonesty claiming the bill was constitutional when the SCOTUS hasn't ruled on the long gun question.

Don't discount the tremendous turnout they had for their 2A day. I'd like to see about 20,000 people show up for IGOLD.

Also, since a gun being in common peaceful use exposes the "weapon of war" lie.....maybe we should all go out and buy an AR15. Or another AR15, as the case may be. ;)

If you want to see how misguided and delusional the guy that introduced this bill is, take a look

Obvious it was to hit his political opponents

He thinks the AR15 was used by Nazi Germany LOFL

Dont think for a minute this is over....and probably coming soon to this state.

Thus what is stated in the OP. Some with the VA GOP even upped it a notch (wouldn’t be legal here)

A Democratic lawmaker who is leading an effort to ban assault weapons in Virginia has asked local prosecutors to consider pressing charges against a gun-toting Republican Party chair who protested outside his home on Saturday.

Del. Mark Levine (D-Alexandria) said Brandon Howard, chair of the Hopewell Republican Party and head of the gun group Right to Bear Arms Virginia, may have violated Virginia statutes related to intimidation and harassment.

Levine referred the case to Alexandria City Commonwealth Attorney Bryan Porter, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Howard posted Levine’s home address to a Facebook event prior to his protest, and read it again in a video he posted to the platform on Saturday.

No sympathy for Levine. He and the Dems are causing this response. Don’t necessarily agree with it, but they’re causing it.

I will plainly state that I don't believe in "doxing". In addition, regardless of the legality, it's in poor taste to protest at an individual's home. Family members, neighbors, etc....they shouldn't be drug into the issue.

That said, I'd bet that Howard didn't step across the legal line. I wouldn't be surprised if he had his toes right up against it though.

Steve - about halfway down the page in the first link, there is a line I am questioning. It states: "Illegal until 2004, 1.5 million - - -". Even during the Clinton AWB that sunseted in 2004, weren't ARs and AKs still able to be purchased?

To the guys with NFA and largish collections this feels like a victory. Sure it's really just kicking the can, but it buys time to get more people involved and takes time away from Governor Blackface. Virginia is unique in only allowing a Governor a single term. Republican candidates are lining up already for 2021, and people know not to leave their fate to everyone else on voting day.

It will NEVER be over. People who think it will be over, need to wake up. The fight for your freedoms never ever ends. It is a war that has been raging on for all of recorded history and shall always continue.

Block one bad bill and another will pop up like a weed. Vote out one bad politician and hundreds stand in line to take his or her place. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

People need to stop thinking this is going to be a quick victory. People need to stop thinking all we need to do is one thing. When you get complacent, they'll swoop in and take advantage of that complacency, and that's why we are in the predicament we are in.

It will never be over. It will take constant and polite pressure from us. It is only over when you give up or die. Until then, defend your rights!

Good points !

There will always be egomaniacs and power-hungry scumbags as is evidenced by human history. Conquest and domination, they all want that. Alexander, Caesar, Genghis Khan, Henry the 8th, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Edi Amin, etc., to name a very few.

I agree on the "slow retreat". Every time the antis get part of their agenda passed, they move further toward their eventual goal (no more firearms for private citizens.) They have lots of time, and every right we lose is one we're never getting back. But at least the patriots in Virginia "slowed them down" for a short while.

Friskberg has suffered a major setback. If he loses the primary, MDA WILL lose it's luster; MDA's only purpose was to lay groundwork for Friskberg. Virginia has shown the pro-gun side what is necessary to make things difficult for anti-gunners: show up at their meetings, show up to every and all local and state government meeting. Obviously, Illinois has different dynamics, but there at least is something the pro-gun movement can go from.

Illinois isn't entirely different. The D Senators that voted this down in committee were from purple/red districts. If they want to get re-elected they have to vote for their own self preservation. The numbers of people showing up reminded them specifically who the firing boss was.
