Gubernatorial candidate Kennedy highlights Chicago gun violence to call for change

CHICAGO (WLS) --

Democratic candidate for governor Chris Kennedy stood outside Stroger Hospital Friday to call for change to deal with the violence that has once again pushed Chicago's homicides over 600 for 2017.

...

Kennedy and his running mate spread the blame around, calling out Gov. Rauner for not being in charge, and members of their own party, too, for not doing enough to stem the violence.

"Here in Illinois in 2017, we should already have bump stock legislation signed into law. Here in Illinois in 2017 we should already have a gun dealer licensing bill signed into law," said Ra Joy, Kennedy's running mate.

Constituents in Chicago have short memories and addled brains.

Lets go back to how things were when Chicago had a gun ban and crime soared in Chicago despite the national downward crime trend ? If Illinois gun policy was responsible for Chicago's violence, then the past gun laws were a total failure.

Things are neither good nor bad because of Illinois gun laws. The core problem is social policies that destroy the family and create and sustain a culture devoid of morals. Politicians talk about the importance of staying in school and not getting pregnant but their economic policies incentivize young girls to get pregnant and get on the dole. Money talks, bull**** walks. The current gun laws in Illinois merely enable citizens like me the opportunity to defend themselves if attacked, whereas before, I was denied that right.

I think our biggest problem is politicians who exploit the African-American community using identity politics to get elected and then mask the problem in order to stay elected. Chicago's gangs are crime organizations, and if they were treated like crime organizations some headway might be made in curtailing them. But they're not treated like members of criminal organizations, they're treated like lost boys, they're treated like hapless victims. Treating the members of Chicago's street gangs like victims guarantees that their mothers and aunts will continue to vote for democrats.

About the only person who has been able to say that Chicago needs to incarcerate its violent criminals without arousing the ire of the African-American community is Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson.

The members of the community that both mostly spawns the violence, and is most impacted by it, do not want to hear the hard truth. They are more than eager to hear that the blame lies elsewhere, that there is some vast conspiracy, that something or someone else is responsible.

It is so self defeating. They start with the premise that they're not responsible. Well you can't change something that you have no responsibility or authority over. Right out of the gate, their position is predicated on dependency on politicians to make life better for them, and the politicians love that, but it is also the very reason that things never get better for them.

Of course talking gun control is the tried-and-true pablum to feed the dependent masses of Chicago. Anything to deflect blame from the painful truth.

They're also treated like cronies.

Jb Pritzker is raising the bar, not just gun control is needed but rap control is now needed.

Change The Culture Of Violence In Our Cities

While rap music is not the cause of inner city violence, it is not doing anything to stop it. Several popular rappers have been promoting gangs and gang violence. Leaders and journalists in our community as well as conscious rappers must address the problems of gangs in Hip Hop music. Rappers must be taken to task for their words and the affect they have on urban youth. Rappers are one of the few examples of people who have made it out of urban, poverty stricken neighborhoods, so young people from those environments tend to look up to and emulate rappers. Activists must pressure record labels, radio stations, website and TV channels to stop promoting rappers who encourage gangs and gang violence to stop doing so.

And by pressure I'm sure they mean legal regulations to take away 1st ammendment rights. After the guns go and the violence still doesn't stop its gotta be the epidemic of word violence that makes people do bad things...

Kennedy couldn't see the solutions if they hit him in the face like a wet flopping fish. He's part of the problem.

And people don't notice Dart bragging about how the jail population is at a record low?

Think that has something to do with the record or near-record crime and violence levels?

Or the fact that HeyJackass or SCC now seems to have a race between CPD and FCCL justified shootings??

Maybe we should thank Dart for providing a target rich environment, and we can

get the job done where the libs have hamstrung the cops, courts and jails.

Being more diffuse, we're a harder target to hamstring.

Directly overheard from two teenage girls while at the Baby Gap.

"Girl, I got a new phone, stamps, my nails done and and all I did was have that baby over there"

Not long from we will be giving them cars as it is unsafe for them to take CTA.

smh....

We have to shut down the rappers in order to protect free speech.

Every failed set of laws is the springboard for the next set of onerous laws and regulations, and each new law curtails liberty somehow, someway, and its always justified by saying it will make our society better - with no acknowledgment of the fact that the previous set of laws and programs created most of the current problems in the first place.

Exactly, it's the Democrat plantation theory, and it's what these Chicago democrats want to do to the state.

You set up the school system to only get into college without providing any real life skills. Union protected teachers won't even bother teaching because "the kids are too unruly". Then they pass laws to make childlike behaviors like schoolyard fights and pantsing someone in gym class assault, sexual assault, and hate crimes.

On the democratic plantation your suddenly an adult before 18 in their legal system, but in the media you'll be a "kid" through your 20s because they've made you that helpless. And good luck having the government give you a student loan with a record.

With no job or vocational skills you're forced to live in the same area you grew up. The police have been completely neutered so they can't protect you so you illegally obtain a gun to protect yourself (because they've made the cost of legal ownership too high, and you're barred from ownership due to typical high school behavior).

Without problem solving skills the skilled labor unions are out of the question, but even unskilled jobs like moving boxes are union as well.

And every woman you sleep with convinces you not to use protection so she can do the Maury Povich you're the father dance and get paid all the benefits.

Then you get into the drug game, but it's not crack anymore, it's pharmaceuticals. Because with state/federal funded health care and lack of oversight on pill doctors and the pharmaceutical companies they're super easy to get and everyone's hooked on them. And the Democratic candidates get big kickbacks from these industries.

So over time you turn into a hardened criminal and that one break they should of cut you back in highschool they cut you when you're committing real crimes. Because now your criminality is useful in passing more laws to make sure nobody has a chance to get off the plantation.

And the ones the do make it off go to schools to get indoctrinated in becoming a master of the plantation. You get out with a degree in the social science. You collect consulting fees doing studies to say that what the politicians do is needed. You may even become a politician, be part of the corrupt legal system, or be a part of the corrupt social services/community activist organizations.

The big city Democrat circular logic is a feature, not a bug. It's not incompetence, it's self serving big government. They want all of Illinois' money.
