Things have panned out for me to set aside a few bucks. I've been wanting to splurge and get a "Court Gun" or "BBQ Gun" for years. I figure now is the time.

However, I haven't decided exactly what.

The gun would be for the times I carry in an open carry State, and I want it to say "Class, with flash."

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'd go with a revolver, at least .357 magnum with some fancy grips. Maybe a 6 inch barrel, engraved.

A Browning Hi-Power is always a classic - especially if you have it done up in a deep mirror-black finish.  Or you can do silver & gold and mother of pearl

For me that would be a 1911 with stag grips in a nice leather holster

You can't cheap out on the holster either:

Also, if you're going to make a BBQ gun - you have to get a name-brand pistol. and the more iconic the better.

Like, you can't buy an ATI 1911 and doll it up with gold plating and expect people not to laugh at you when  you show up to the BBQ with it - that's lipstick on a pig.

You have to pony up for a real Colt:

Hmmmm looks like pic didn't attach.  For those not familiar with it, it is a double barrel .45 ACP

Beautiful guns.  Makes me want to take up engraving as a hobby.

An AK seems to work for cooking bacon. I think if you fired enough heavy load rounds though it you could do a passable job BBQing with it.

Meant to be seen. Hmm.

full size 1911, nickle or a deep unmarred blue, minimal customization, but find some really nice but un-gaudy grips for it.

full size blue or nickle revolver.  S&W Model 19, 4".  Again, find some really nice grips for it.

What holster your wear it in is going to matter, too.

S&W Model 19 Combat magnum is a classic - I was going to say that too, but they're getting hard to get nowadays.  I actually think the 3" barreled Model 19 is the best looking, but there were also less of those produced and they are more rare.

I think gold inlay on the cylinder is very BBQ-ish but you have to have a holster that shows the cylinder.

I would have a problem engraving a Model 19 and putting gold inlay on it and making it gaudy, but S&W is making the 586 again and you could get a 586 re-finished, engraved and put gold inlay on it and make it very BBQ-ish.

My BBQ gun is a 1948 colt woodsman in a plain leather holster. I don't wear it to show off- I shoot golfballs in the yard between tending to the pit barrel. Its to help fight the war on boredom you know.

Where's Nichols when you need him?  I think he prances around the house with pink grips and a foot of fringe on his holster.

And he could tell you exactly what models are period correct for when OC was first recognized as the only righteous way to carry a gun.

I'm a CZ guy, and like to keep it simple but classy.  If money were no object, and I lived in an OC state and decided to do so, mine would look something like this.

Although, I'd go with some grips from Esmerelda.  She does some beautiful work: https://esmeralda.cc/collections/cz-75

If you want to be the man and the Mac daddy , then you have to go with the Cabot 1911 pistol made from a meteorite and then the matching knife . The knife is a folder and sold out only 3 made $10,000.00 each .

Probably any pistol from Cabot would do and they are made in the U.S.A.

Gotta go with the Dynamic Pie Concepts Ultimate HiPoint in that case

Depending on the budget you have, and if youre a big 1911 fan, a custom Infinity (SVI) would definitely be the type of gun you could show off if you want something flashy.
