Combination or key lock

DC514

Recommended Posts

So I'm purchasing a safe for the car and was wondering if any of you could help me decide on either a 3 number combonation lock or just a key lock. I understand some benefits to both like I don need to worry about losing a key for a combo lock. And so on.

So what do you guys have and why did you pick that certain locking mechanism?

I have one of these:

I dislike having to fish out a key in order to re-arm, but it does have a key in case the batteries go dead and I can't get it open. Best of both worlds.

The only real problem with it is that it's not really permanently attachable to a vehicle without drilling holes.

I use a V-Line Compact pistol safe, which is secured to my seat with a chain. The safe has a push button combination, so no key is required, as well as no batteries to die. It's then brought inside to store the firearm.

I'll try linking - http://pistolsafestore.com/v-line-compact-pistol-safe-279-s-blk.html?gclid=CMndx-y7lsQCFSRo7Aod1TUA1w

It's $136 on Amazon.
