Online FOID application only allows me to register?

SC1976

Recommended Posts

After I register with no previous FOID it takes me to my status page. Just my name shows and no address and a Sponsor status. I choose FOID on main page and then when I sign in it goes to the same status page. No options to start application. Any ideas why?

Everything was the same as this process but mine ended at step 4.

It could be that you sponsored someone else perhaps?

If so,

Call them if possible. You could have duplicate accounts since the ISP page works in weird ways where an account is either a Sponsor or regular account. Sponsors are those who signed up to allow minor (under 21) to sign up with their legal guardian's authorization.

My info is just what I've been through before. It could be different but I think if you sponsored someone else than this is probably the what and the why of it.

I think what this person is saying is that they signed up their child first and completed that application and now is trying to complete their own application, but are not allowed to do so as the page is locked in sponsor mode, probably waiting until the child is cleared.

This one sounds like maybe a little Molly intervention is needed.

My daughter (19) did want to get her FOID. She said she started the registration and needs to upload her photo and have me sign the form. But why am I not allowed to apply for a FOID myself?

I seen this, looks like I'm SOL..

The parent/guardian affidavit includes a statement that you, the parent, are not prohibited from firearm ownership under Illinois law. As the person granting permission for your daughter to obtain her FOID card I believe your background is checked along with hers.

This is something of a guess but I think until she's approved you might be locked out of applying in order to avoid duplicate checks.
