Visit to the Milwaukee County Zoo

For those living in northern Illinois, a visit to the Milwaukee County Zoo is a nice option to going to a Chicago area zoo, if going to a zoo at all is your thing. The Milwaukee Zoo is a lot more "user friendly" than the sprawling Brookfield Zoo, and parking is infinitely easier than the Lincoln Part Zoo. And the Milwaukee Zoo has elephants, something more and more zoos are eliminating. But I am posting this on this forum to mention that while Milwaukee has a crime violence problem equal to or worse than Chicago, the zoo is a "gun free zone". But for whatever it is worth, there are no metal detectors at the entrances, and there are no bag searches. Admission fees and the parking fee are paid when you enter the parking lot, paying by cash or card from your vehicle, and there are no specific security measures for when you enter the zoo through the main entrance. My wife and I visited this zoo yesterday and had a very pleasant visit, and felt safe the entire time.
