  1. Maryland shooters have gotten the royal shaft from their liberal government. Woolard (plaintiff) was denied a renewedpermit by Gallagher (director of the State police and the Board that controls permits) as he did not present a good, substantial and current reason to get a concealed carry permit. This will be a HUGE decision concerning the rights of all Americans because once the SCOTUS rules, it will affect everyone, not just Maryland. Cato Institute has a pretty good explanation in plain english Woolard v. Gallagher Of real interest in this case is the fact that the Appelate Court chose to not only ignore Heller but denied that the Heller decision was even correct. In effect, they said the Supreme Court of the United States was wrong in their decision
  2. I believe the current wording that allows you to basically sue them and regain all your cost if they don't issue in 30 days is a better system as it cost them money, lawyer fees and more time something that sends a message to the bean counters and puts direct pressure where the pressure is needed... I always have a problem with that. Send what message? You don't think that money comes out of their pockets, do you? It comes out of our pockets. They could care less. The City of Chicago has now autbhorized lawsuit settlements in the amount of $44 million just since the first of the year. That doesn't affect them at all, the taxpayers are paying that money. If the City, or in this case the State, needs more money they just raise your taxes.
  3. Oh, there's a good idea. Let's see, we get Mary Shepard, Moore et al to all drop their law suits, have Todd tear up the bill that he has writing and re-writing for the last coupokle of years, get Judge Posner to re-consoider his injunction and also hiis ruling that the UUW Statue is uunconstitutional and oh yeah, forget all the town halls, Op Eds, personal apearances and all the 4rest so we can start all over again. But I would really like to be a co-plantiff in a class action against the ISP and the FOID.
  4. Bud, do you have that case? I do: People v. Holmes
  5. I think once the concealed carry law is passed and being used, we need to go after the FOID. I douby very much if it is defensible. The Illinois Supreme Court has ruled that non residents in illinois do not haver to have a FOID to possess firearms and ammo while in Illinois: http://watchdog.org/39531/ilshn-supreme-court-says-only-residents-need-foid-gun-card/ wait a minute. Where is the equality under the law in that? Why are Illinois residents different from all other Americans?
  6. I think our total focus and object should be getting a fair carry bill passed as quickly as possible Dragging things out in an attempt to get really hard to swallow ideas by the chicago machine approved is counter-productive. I am a 'purist" at heart. What i mean by that is I fervently believe there are people in this State who desperately need to be armed for their own safety, i.e. seniors, battered women, folks who are forced to work in or commute through bad areas, etc. I really believe, very strongly, that concealed carry is desperately needed now because the life that may get saved just might be a member of my family or one of my friends. If the other side threw up their hands and said they would accept HB 148 (with modifications of the training, most of the geographical restrictions and curtting the ISP out of the proicess totally) I would accept it. In other words, HB 5745 is just about immediately acceptable to me. I "edited" this to add: I actually like HB 5745 much better than 148. If the geographical restrictions were reduced to a minimum I would accept it totslly. The training requirements are much easier and many folks here already qualify.
  7. I really do not think this will happen. Madigan (Lisa) cannpt take it to SCOTUS for fear that SCOTUS will ruule against her, thus striking down "may issue" all over the country. 2. Todd is in the driver's seat. If they come up with a Bill we don't like, we can delay a vote until the 180 days is over which i have (very aptly) named the "concealed carry cliff". 3. If they can't get a Bill done in 180 days, your FOID allows carry open or concealed. The newscasters are already talking about it.
  8. We need to get behind Todd, the ISRA and Illinois Carry and start pushing right now. Everyone needs to call their legislators and make sure they know that you support concealed carry in Illinois. once the language of a Bill is finalized and pushed by Todd, the ISRA and Illinois Carry we need to get behind them and help push this through. No more squabbling, we have the momentum and we can get this done if we all push together. If you are on other forums, invite Illinois residents to join Illinois Carry and help us to get this done.
  9. Holy smokes, I never did this either Rep Bob Pritchard 70th Christine Johnson35th,
  10. My brother was a Huey crewchief. Himself, his CO, 1SG and another crewchief were the last ones of his unit out of Saigon before it fell. It fell five days later. Can't remember his unit, he was based on Ton Son Knut. Flew to Thailand, turned their Huey over to the Thais and caught a civie plane home.
