I could of told you it was because of Cook even before looking but

OpticsPlanet is located in Cook County, Illinois, where a 10-round magazine capacity limit is in full effect. Up until a week ago, OpticsPlanet used to sell up to 15-round magazines, because their warehouse is located outside of Cook County in an area that allows up to 15-round mags. However, Cook County recently informed them that they must cease this practice and, because their HQ is in Cook, they must abide by the 10-round cap no matter where their warehouse is.

So you guys want to boycott a business that actually has a reason to try to legally fight the ban (which you know they will do).

Never done business, so can't comment on other business practices. If they didnt have decent customer service that's a good reason to not do business. But being a gun business that gets screwed by Cook County shouldnt be a reason to hate them, they're on the same side.

I honestly wondered how they got around Cook laws for a while.

I would sure like to see a copy of that notice. Did Cook send out a mass notice and will we see more companies goibg down this route?

Having said that, some people had no issues with OpticsPlanet but plenty of others had issues with the way they handled if they really had something in stock and their customer service.

They are in Northbrook? I assume this is probably a HomeRule community so I wonder (havent looked) what their local municode has in terms of overriding County law

This could be the case we've been waiting for. If they capitulate with 0 action then the heck with them. But if they fight it and get a favorable ruling this could be good for all of us living behind enemy lines.

Optics planet has always been notorious for listing things in stock online, then emailing and telling you the product is on backorder after you place your order and they have your money.

You would think in this day and age, with a company as large as theirs, that they would be able to have a website that was actually able to keep track of inventory on items worth 100s-1000s of dollars.

I hate to say it but they should find another state for their headquarters. Money seems to be the only thing Chicago politicians understand.

Or at least move out of Cook County, preferably somewhere west of Rt. 47. DeKalb County would be my biased suggestion.

I have always wondered about the requirement to tell Cook County when a gun is being sold. Since Cabelas is considered a "resident" of Cook, do they tell the County if you buy a gun, what it is, S/N, etc. And what about FFls? Are they considered an owner before you pick it up.? Does the requirement apply to them too? Sounds like it could mean registration.
