$75 to change my &*%^@# address?!?!

Hello, new guy here.

As my luck would have it, I received my CCL (1/5 no prints) right at the same time I happen to move. This move wasn't in sight when I originally applied. In order to be law-abiding, I'll be switching my address on my DL and FOID as they are $5 each. My CCL on the other hand is SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS so the powers that be can print a card with my new address on it.

So what would you do? Just leave the old address on my CCL? I do live downstate, so I don't imagine dart head or mcfarty will be out to get me. If i'm ever asked to see the license by a LEO I highly doubt he's going to do anything about my address not matching.

Does it even say in the law I have to change the address on my CCL when I move? If i'm seriously required to pay $75 for moving i'll be in touch with my reps because that is outright unreasonable. Thanks for your advice.

You will notice that each license has a 24k gold wave pattern overlay...

Your paying for the quality.

hahaha. If you compare it to your DL, the DL is much better quality.

Imagine the uproar if Jesse White charged $75 for an addy change. But since it's gun owners it's OK to over charge us.

Proceeds go to the Barrack Hussein Obama Presidential Library

Not bad money for one book. We know the book doesn't contain the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.

I was born and raised in Illinois and I've seen what the political rulers did with Lottery Money (which was supposed to fund education), the Tobacco Settlement (supposed to fund cancer research, cancer treatment and education on tobacco and tobacco abatement programs). Then there was Governor Quinn giving out $55 million to inner city constituents right before the gubernatorial election, he paid them to pass out pamphlets admonishing everyone to be nice to one another, a thinly veiled vote-buying scheme. I've seen about a dozen other examples of nefarious fiscal shenanigans. So I can say that, in my opinion, it doesn't matter how revenue streams are earmarked or set-aside or anything like that. All the money the Illinois politicians can get their hands on is funny money that disappears and reappears and morphs when it is run through the Illinois Funny Money Shell Game.

In the end the politicians are richer and the taxpayers are poorer.

I don't know where in the IL statutes it would be, but the state is only supposed to be able to charge a fee that is enough to pay for the transaction, they are not legally allowed to make money.

Some business organizations filed suit against the state back when Blago arbitrarily doubled all business fees in the state several years ago. The law probably got changed. All I ever knew was the case got stalled and not much else.
