Retired Federal law enforcement member shoots train conductor

The Tribune today has reported an incident where a 79 year old retired Federal Protective Officer (not sure what this really is) shot a train conductor for not letting him get off the train he was on. While the 79 year old has been arrested, and while it was noted in the article that his concealed carry license had previously been revoked, I have little doubt that this case will give rise to some in Illinois government stating that cases like this show why legal concealed carry is dangerous to public safety. But reading this article actually made me think how rarely it is that we hear or read about a licensed concealed carrier being arrested for any violation of the concealed carry law. With about 200,000 of us now walking the streets of Illinois, it is really a testament to just how law abiding we really are based on how rarely one of us gets into trouble in some gun related way.

The problem with that is the guns are concealed and most anti-gunners are probably in denial that there are that many people out there actually carrying. I guarantee you that they go about their days in their Utopian bubble unaware that we walk amongst them.

The article stated that the individual's CCW license had been revoked. It implied that his status as a retired Federal law enforcement officer was what allowed him to carry concealed. It never addressed whether or not his status made it legal for him to carry on public transportation. The article was more focused on the bizarre behavior of the individual when he leaned out of the train car and shot the conductor standing on the train platform.

If there is a way to do a link from the newspaper that I receive online I am not aware of it. Sending you the link to the whole paper won't work unless you are a subscriber. Maybe Google "Chicago Tribune May, 20, 2017" might help.
