I didn't get to it much but it was nice to know I always had a place that usually didn't have anyone there. If there ever was someone there they were always good people! The guys who ran it were top notch!!! It was an honor system! Anyway, I would love to buy a piece of property or even a cabin with property that there wouldn't be any problems with local ordinances or neighbors. I know that's a tough bill to fill but if anyone knows of anything please let me know. 3 hour radius of Plainfield would be nice! Still can't believe they are closing!!! Loss of Freedom feeling!!!!! There is one called buyafarm.com which lists rural land offered by different real estate agencys, but I don't find Ogle county listed. I think it's listings are in the southern part of Illinois, but maybe there is such a sight for your area. I imagine you might run into zoning issues for some northern counties that would prohibit you from having your own range. Who knows what government agency in the future might require clean-up that wouldn't be dreamed of today. I'd look for a county without rural zoning if there are any in your part of the state. You don't want to buy land and have to get permission to build a range. If land owners of adjoining land don't like the idea you could be out of luck. In my county in rural areas you aren't required to have a building permit to build a house, though there has been talk about changing this.
