MARTINTRUEBLUE Posted March 30, 2019 at 05:26 AM Share Posted March 30, 2019 at 05:26 AM Does anyone remember ever encountering a handguard by Midwest Industries specifically designed to work with (allow for full/locking collapse of the forward underfolding stock) of an AKMS - as pictured. I could swear I've seen them in the past but now no reseller seems to carry them and when I called MI to inquire the lady that got the call seemed to have no idea what I'm talking about yet was quick to swear that they never had such product. MARTINTRUEBLUE Posted March 30, 2019 at 10:59 PM Author Share Posted March 30, 2019 at 10:59 PM I mean a metal one, preferably made of light alloy to begin with, and having perforations, further decreasing its weight, and with rail on top and each side, perhaps even underneath as I did see such solutions where even with the underfolding stock there was enough space to attach one of those short, folding vertical grip much useful with this caliber (at least for me, not being what one would call "well built"). Somehow, I fear a synthetic solution would not work well with even moderate quantity of ammo in rapid succession, and the synthetic with aluminum or some other metal lining solutions somehow does not inspire my confidence, considering basic physics of thermal transfer and effecting challenge on whatever solution is employed in embedding one material in the other. I'm seriously considering getting the best they have and having it grinded to fit, but I seriously doubt I can achieve a fully satisfactory effect, not to mention the expenditure aspect of the project.
