CCL appeal

Next month will be a year that I have been waiting on my appeal for my ccl. When it got denied last year the only thing the letter said was that I answered yes to one of the questions. The question was about mental health. I marked yes because I have seen therapist for PTSD. But i have never been committed to a hospital willing or made to go. Nor have i ever been considered a threat to myself or to anyone else. Anyone else have a similar situation? Any advise or recommendations? Thanks.

The question is:

Yes No

Within the past 5 years (preceding the date of this application), have you been a patient in a mental institution or any part of a medical facility for the treatment of mental illness?

If you answered yes, then you are proibited from getting a license for 5 years.

Getting counseling is not the same as being a patient in a mental institution or medical facility (hospital psych ward, etc.) Did they send you a copy of an affidavit to sign stating you answered the question in error?

Hello!

Culper, I was wondering if you have heard or found out anything new regarding your appeal? I am in the EXACT same boat as you with regards to answering that mental health question the same way you did. I too was attending outpatient counseling for PTSD from my local VA.

Did you ever get the letter MollyB was mentioning, the one that was supposed to be sent by the state to confirm you didn't answer that question in error? I've not seen a letter either.

Anyway, if either of you could let me know how you are doing on your appeal, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Thanks!
