Vermont Rolls Over

The Vermont legislature has just sent a gun control bill to the Governor, including a ban on "high capacity" magazines. This, from a state that has always had Constitutional carry (for both residents and non-residents) and open carry for both long guns and handguns. Those may now be at risk as well.

We're in real trouble when this happens in Vermont.

Free MAGPUL PMAGs to be Given Away in Vermont to Oppose Gun Control Bill

All that show up to collect a magazine should open carry the rifle or pistol the magazine will fit. A show of force of the resistance the tyrants will face if the legal system fails to protect the fundamental right to bear arms.

Poiticians overreacting to a bunch of emotional teenagers. Among the most stupid things that the U.S. did in the 20th century was to give 18 year olds the right to vote.

If a citizen can be conscripted they should have a right to have some say in the matter.

The 26th amendment is in place because 18 year olds were getting drafted without being able to vote for their representation.

They aren't overreacting. This isn't a knee-jerk response to an unfathomable occurrence. They see it as an opportunity, a fortuitous though tragic event. They know as well as we do that you can't stop a madman, but it offers them a serendipitous stroke of emotional cover to move against the Second Amendment, our guns, our Rights, our Freedoms and eventually, our very way of life.

It is difficult to stay vigilant if I allow myself to think this is just a passing storm of overreaction and emotions.

Vermont has had lax gun laws because it is a very small state and has no large cities to drive crime. It is also a very liberal progressive state in all other ways. Socially and economically is deep blue. Very nice place, very nice people. Guns have not been an issue because they’re practically a non-issue..

As someone who was 18 when that amendment was ratified, I think there is a vast difference between an18 year old in 1972 and now.

Obviously opinions may differ...
