soundguy Posted October 10, 2018 at 07:26 PM Share Posted October 10, 2018 at 07:26 PM I have an alloy frame Hi Power that I want to have refinished. It's showing much holster wear from it's previous life in Europe. If you have any recommendations for a shop sorta near me, I'd love to hear from you. It is my new carry gun... just want to protect it and have it look nice for a long time. My desires:- High Quality work- Fast turnaround- Close enough to Chicago that I can drop it off- Affordable costs- Knows how to best refinish alloy frames- A variety of refinishing options would be nice It would be amazing to find someone local that could fill all my desires. If you guys have any other thoughts, I'd love to hear those, too. Thanks! Tim
Anonymous One Posted October 10, 2018 at 07:38 PM Share Posted October 10, 2018 at 07:38 PM Contact John Gillette at Classic Guns. They're in Crete and their number is 708-367-1620.If I'm not mistaken, they did the color case hardening for the Colt Signature Series black powder revolvers. Chitownshooterz Posted October 13, 2018 at 03:33 AM Share Posted October 13, 2018 at 03:33 AM I had a 36 year old Smith & Wesson model 34 re-blued by Fords and it's beautiful. Dropped the gun off at Maxons in DesPlaines. Their gun smith took care of it for me. Cost was around $230.00. Not a bad price considering the outcome. Downside was the six months it took to get it back. Highly recommend Fords.
