SPARTA, Ill. Gun owners, hunters and those interested in learning more about gun rights in Illinois are invited to join state Rep. Nathan Reitz, D-Steeleville, for a Gun Rights Update on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta.

I believe it is important for our states laws and regulations to protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners, and am fighting to reduce unnecessary burdens on sportsmen by improving expirations for concealed carry licenses, said Reitz. I encourage local gun owners to join me for my Gun Rights Update to learn more about my efforts to protect our constitutional rights and my support for responsible gun ownership in Illinois.

Community residents are invited to Reitzs Gun Rights Update in partnership with the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex, located at 1 Main Event Ln. in Sparta. Gun owners, hunters and those interested in learning more are encouraged to stop by as experts from the ISRA and IDNR give a legislative update on Rep. Reitzs efforts to protect Illinoisans Second Amendment rights.

During his time as state Representative, Reitz passed a new law that reduces a variety of burdensome regulations on gun owners by extending the life of concealed carry licenses and exempting the World Shooting Complex from recent restrictive firearm dealer licensing requirements.

Many of our traditions in Southern Illinois center on outdoor sports like hunting and shooting, so protecting our Second Amendment liberties is one of my top priorities, said Reitz. As a lifelong Southern Illinoisan, I understand the importance of our values and traditions and will continue standing up for our families in Springfield.
