If you're looking to retire as a very wealthy person, now would be a good time to make investments in cannabis operations in Illinois/nationwide.. :frantics:

Especially with Canada legalizing it. People are getting rich. Of that, there's no doubt, but some unwise people are also being fleeced..

States like Illinois that are in deep financial trouble are just starting to see the tax revenue from cannabis as a serious lifeboat. The writing is on the wall of where this industry is headed.

investments in the marijuana industry surpassed $13.85 billion in 2018 — up from roughly $3.5 billion in 2017"

When tobacco companies are buying into it, you know there is money to be had. Nothing illegal about it either. If you get the chance, pounce now!

If you think about it, many states are or want to make weed legal while getting rid or A2 rights. It seems that if you dumb down and keep the populace drugged up and attempt to disarm same populace, you have the control of said populace. It all boils down to power and people control. Strange and dangerous times we live in.

Reminds me of Fahrenheit 451. Keeping the populace ignorant and entertained allows the government to do whatever it likes...

I wouldn't invest in it at all. The entire national demand could be grown on 2000 acres. A glut of supply is certain. The only thing keeping up the price now is it's illegal at the federal level. When that ends, and it will, the price will crash and a lot of people are going to lose everything.

I disagree. There's a lot of angles here. Medical\homeopathic use. Pet medical\homeopathic use. Food. Beverage. Textile. And think global market, not just national. There's going to be a few losers, but one or two of them will represent the Amazon, Apple or Google of the market. Canopy Growth and Aurora Cannabis both appear to be moving in the right direction. Keep in mind that millennials are pouring money into this as an investment. Those kids are going to be fund someone's retirement yet.

There's money to be made - and crime to be committed...

The cost will be high for retail... so it's back to the street where no taxes are levied.

It's not exclusively about smoking weed. That's so 1975. Sure, that method still works, but the blackmarket stuff will become obvious and ridiculed as the legal stuff is going to be edible, drinkable, and in oil for vaporizer use. Smoking weed will be considered as being for poor people...like crack cocaine was.

I encourage everyone to read up on this emerging market. It's not about rolling a joint.

Exactly. Smoking the flower isn't cool any more. Now its all in the edibles and extracts. It takes a lot more of the flower to make the other variants. 2000 acres is a start though.

I'm sorry...

I guess this has all changed and is hunky dory now...

Let's jump from 1975 to 2015.

SEATTLE — A year into the nation’s experiment with legal, taxed marijuana sales, Washington and Colorado find themselves wrestling not with the federal interference many feared, but with competition from medical marijuana or even outright black market sales.

In Washington, the black market has exploded since voters legalized marijuana in 2012, with scores of legally dubious medical dispensaries opening and some pot delivery services brazenly advertising that they sell outside the legal system.

Licensed shops say taxes are so onerous that they can’t compete.

Colorado, which launched legal pot sales on New Year’s Day 2014, is facing a lawsuit from Nebraska and Oklahoma alleging that they’re being overrun with pot from the state.

Officials in both states say they must do more to drive customers into the recreational stores. They’re looking at reining in their medical systems and fixing the big tax differential between medical and recreational weed without harming patients.

GWBH... I don't have any interest in marijuana for personal use. As a independent outsider to this stuff I'm just saying there is an industry there with tremendous potential. The reason why pot shops in legal states are a mess has a lot to do with Federal law deeming it illegal. Once that changes, and it will, you're going to see the federal government clamp down on the blackmarket, and incentives for growers just like you have now for traditional farmers.

Again, don't think of this as weed for kids getting high and acting stupid. It's a whole new range of products that's getting investment from tobacco, beer, and pharma companies. It's traded on the NYSE. This is different, and it's going to be huge.

The cannabis they are planning on using for this stuff has very low levels of the THC, the compound that creates the "high". It's the oils and extracts for anti-inflammatory and pain reduction that are their primary goals.

All joking aside, I've seen too many close ones die of cancer. If it would've made life easier for them, that would've been great.
