abolt243 Posted February 10, 2011 at 11:35 PM Share Posted February 10, 2011 at 11:35 PM SB 1588 AWB is already on the bad list. SB 1589 - possession of a weapon by a felon on parole or mandatory supervised release to recieve mandatory jail time. Yep, just like the 15-20-Life law that never gets applied. Listed as bad. I guess it is just by the fact that it's nearly a duplication of an existing bill and it just another useless law. AB

Lou Posted February 11, 2011 at 12:35 PM Share Posted February 11, 2011 at 12:35 PM SB2275 I'm not sure about this one???? Synopsis As IntroducedAmends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that a parole agent or parole supervisor must receive training in the use of firearms initially at the Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Academy and be certified as having successfully completing the training by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board upon graduation of parole training at the Academy. Thereafter, the parole agent or supervisor must successfully complete firearms training required for his or her position with the Department of Corrections. Eliminates provision that the training shall be taken while off-duty. Eliminates requirement that the agent or supervisor must register the firearm with the Department of State Police and with any other local law enforcement agency that requires registration. Lou Posted February 11, 2011 at 12:43 PM Share Posted February 11, 2011 at 12:43 PM Sometimes I just have to laugh at people making laws when they have NO CLUE what they are talking about. Ever heard of "High Capacity Ammunition?" SB2292Amends the Criminal Code of 1961 relating to unlawful use of weapons. Increases the penalties by one class if a semi-automatic assault weapon or high capacity ammunition was possessed in the commission of the offense. Defines "semi-automatic assault weapon" and "high capacity ammunition". Effective immediately. "High capacity ammunition" means ammunition of 50 or more caliber. Lou Posted February 11, 2011 at 12:47 PM Share Posted February 11, 2011 at 12:47 PM SB2298 This one is a shell bill so it's hard to tell what the true intent is? Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning justification in the use of force against another person in defense of a dwelling.
Lou Posted February 11, 2011 at 12:50 PM Share Posted February 11, 2011 at 12:50 PM SB2300 This is another shell bill where the intent is hard to discern. Because it was filed by Cullerton I am suspicious. An attempt to undo our ability to stand our ground?Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the use of force in defense of a person.
Drylok Posted February 11, 2011 at 01:49 PM Share Posted February 11, 2011 at 01:49 PM Geez, in this block of senate bills I'm on 1801-2000 there's a zillion of those "Tech" bills. If understood Todd correctly we should open them to see who introduced them and if it's someone friendly don't worry but if it's someone hostile we need to open the "Full Text" and read the whole thing? Is that the way to go about it?
Drylok Posted February 11, 2011 at 02:00 PM Share Posted February 11, 2011 at 02:00 PM http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?DocNum=1940&GAID=11&DocTypeID=SB&LegId=58058&SessionID=84&GA=97 Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that it is a Class 2 felony (rather than a Class 3 felony) to knowingly sell or give a firearm to a person who has been convicted of a felony or to a person under 18 years of age who does not possess a valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card. Effective immediately So this would make it more illegal to do something that is already illegal??? I don't really get this one
