We are thinking about the Charleston South Carolina... a $550k house for a SC resident runs about $2,100/year in property tax. And the income tax isn't that much higher than Illinois. Mr. Fife Posted January 1, 2018 at 04:47 AM Share Posted January 1, 2018 at 04:47 AM Cops Investigating Second Report Of Person Shot By Pellet Gun At CTA Station For the second time in less than 24-hours, Chicago police are investigating a report of a person shot by a pellet gun at a CTA train station. An Uptown man called police around 2:45 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to report that he had been shot by a BB gun while at a train station. Chicago police tonight declined to offer further details about where the incident took place. The victim declined EMS treatment. On Saturday, a 21-year-old man shot in the face with a pellet gun as he stood on the Grand Red Line station platform around 8:40 p.m. That man was treated for his injuries at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. A source reported that a pellet had become lodged in the man’s face. One witness reported that he believes that Saturday's shooter was either inside the conductor cabin or standing between cars of a southbound train when the man was shot. No one is in custody for either incident. Early on November 27, a man reported being shot in the neck and stomach by a pellet gun as he stood outside of a Boystown bar at Halsted and Cornelia. The man, who refused medical treatment and did not file a police report, said the offender shot at him from a black car that was moving eastbound on Cornelia. http://www.cwbchicago.com/2017/12/cops-investigating-second-report-of.html

jeterlancer Posted January 6, 2018 at 09:46 PM Share Posted January 6, 2018 at 09:46 PM The city has become absolutely unlivable. Some people living here have their head up their butt so far they can't see the truth. I was complaining about the crime at work and some of my pro-Chicago coworkers were saying that it only happens in certain neighborhoods. Well, not anymore. The gang bangers have cars and have the ability to travel outside of their crime ridden neighborhoods. They argued that the suburbs also have crime. Yes, it's true, but I don't think people in the suburbs have to worry about armed robberies, carjackings, and other violent crime as much as people living in the city. C0untZer0 Posted January 7, 2018 at 04:20 AM Share Posted January 7, 2018 at 04:20 AM The crime is no longer contained to the "certain" neighborhoods. The street thugs are traveling out to more target rich environments. I do think that people in the suburbs have to worry about car jacking, armed robbery and rape, but that is because the perpetrators are traveling from the traditional high-crime neighborhoods to prey upon sunurbanites. People in North East Illinois are really screwed. Chicago is something like a $500 billion economy, but Rahm Emanuel won't invest in law enforcement and bordering communities have limited resources to deal with the crime. The bordering towns don't have the money to hire hundreds of cops, if they start to raise taxes in order to pay for more police, the residents just leave and move further west or leave Illinois altogether. The justice system is totally dysfunctional, turning dangerous felons back out on the street after short stays in jail. The whole region is copying what happened in Detroit. We're following in Detroit's footsteps, the same exact things are happening here that happened in the Detroit area 20 years ago.

Mr. Fife Posted January 21, 2018 at 03:59 PM Share Posted January 21, 2018 at 03:59 PM 65-year-old man shot on bus in Austin, adding to violent day on CTA A 65-year-old man was shot on a CTA bus Saturday evening in the West Side Austin neighborhood, adding to a violent day on the city’s public transportation system. He was on the bus just after 6 p.m. when he heard gunshots and felt pain in the 5600 block of West Division, according to Chicago Police. The man got off the bus and was walking home when he realized he was bleeding, police said. He went to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, and was transferred to Stroger Hospital when his gunshot wound was found. No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigated. The shooting was the latest in a handful of violent incidents on or near CTA property this weekend. Just five minutes after the shooting on the bus in Austin, a man was grazed by a bullet in the right eye and hand while riding a CTA Green Line train on the South Side. The shooting happened when a fight broke out and someone opened fire on the moving train. Saturday afternoon, a man was shot to death at a bus stop near a the CTA’s 69th Street Red Line station in the South Side Englewood neighborhood. During an ensuing argument, a person pulled out a gun and shot the man in his chest. In July, a Chicago Sun-Times analysis of CTA and police data from the beginning of 2015 through mid-April 2017 found serious crime on the CTA in the city went up 16 percent in 2016. More than 90 percent of those serious crimes went unsolved. Another Sun-Times investigation in November found reports of “non-index” crime — those regarded as less severe than “index” crimes such as murder, robbery and rape — on the CTA in Chicago were on pace in 2017 to surpass each of the previous two years. That included the number of cases of “criminal sexual abuse” such as “inappropriate touching” and “sexual harassment without physical contact.” https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/65-year-old-man-shot-on-cta-bus-in-austin/

Ban Assault Cars Posted April 4, 2018 at 02:02 AM Share Posted April 4, 2018 at 02:02 AM During the winter I saw some teen come up with a inventive use for the conductor's booth; leaning out of the departing train to snatch a bag from behind. Problem was the target had a stronger grip despite being taken by surprise so the thief had to give it up or risk losing a arm. Happened so quick no one seemed to notice at all, just something to be aware of. Only a matter of time before such a trick is used to seriously harm someone. C0untZer0 Posted April 24, 2018 at 12:49 AM Share Posted April 24, 2018 at 12:49 AM It is statistically way more more dangerous to be on the CTA than in a Waffle House or in a school, but it is amazing how the anti-gun politicians (with the help of their friends in the media) keep the public's attention focused on the latter.
