InterestedBystander Posted May 24, 2020 at 04:07 PM Share Posted May 24, 2020 at 04:07 PM We werent the only ones who noticed a lack of face mask wearing or social distancing. Via CapFax:Senate President Don Harmon talks to reporters* How do you think the session went? ..."We were very worried about the risks, but I was proud of how our members did observe social distancing. But most importantly how everyone wore face coverings"... *..."they were rather close to one another. It didnt seem to be, at least at this vantage point, a lot of social distancing going on. What would you say about that"... ..."we were asked to socially distance or wear face coverings. And as you saw everyone on the floor was wearing their face coverings. And I think that that the first line of defense. There was more social distancing by a longshot than there would be on a normal session day. And Im proud of our of our colleagues, Democrats and Republicans, for observing that"...

Not! - Wikipediaen.wikipedia.org › wiki... Not! is a grammatical construction in the English language used as a function word to make negative a group of words or a word.... A declarative statement is made, followed by a pause, and then an emphatic "not!" adverb is postfixed. The result is a negation of the original declarative statement. mauserme Posted May 24, 2020 at 09:02 PM Author Share Posted May 24, 2020 at 09:02 PM If I counted correctly, 57 bills were approved for consideration. Of those, 48 have a 3rd reading deadline extended to 6/23/2020, and 9 have no deadline extension. Those deadlines are by rule. They can be changed as needed. mauserme Posted May 25, 2020 at 08:25 PM Author Share Posted May 25, 2020 at 08:25 PM When Spring Session began, they scheduled all the way through May 31. When the pandemic caused cancellations they were reviewing their ability/need to meet on a weekly basis. The ILGA home page continued to reflect the original schedule through most of the Spring, subject to those weekly changes. At the beginning of this past week the House had already expressed a hope to end session, by Friday at that time. The Senate was less certain about their ability to end early and continued to post "next days" as if nothing would change. When they finally did end session they had reached the early morning hours of Sunday, 5/24. It was about 1 AM for the Senate if I remember correctly. My guess is by that point non-critical staff had gone home, so the home page didn't get updated. The Adjournment Resolution clearly shows 11/17/2020, though, and that's what was stated in both chambers : RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that when the two Houses adjourn on Saturday, May 23, 2020, the House of Representatives stands adjourned until Tuesday, November 17, 2020, or until the call of the Speaker; and the Senate stands adjourned until Tuesday, November 17, 2020, or until the call of the President. EdDinIL Posted May 26, 2020 at 02:27 AM Share Posted May 26, 2020 at 02:27 AM What does this mean for SB1966? It hasn't been extended past May 31. Is that still a possibility even though the House and Senate stand adjourned until November?

Is that still a possibility even though the House and Senate stand adjourned until November? They can breathe new life into a bill at any point up until the next session. Heck, we've even seen a bill that passed both houses go to the next governor to be signed... (IL GDL)

We'll need to be alert during the Veto and Lame Duck sessions (if there is a Lame Duck session).
