We werent the only ones who noticed a lack of face mask wearing or social distancing.

Via CapFax:

Senate President Don Harmon talks to reporters

* How do you think the session went?

..."We were very worried about the risks, but I was proud of how our members did observe social distancing. But most importantly how everyone wore face coverings"...

*..."they were rather close to one another. It didnt seem to be, at least at this vantage point, a lot of social distancing going on. What would you say about that"...

..."we were asked to socially distance or wear face coverings. And as you saw everyone on the floor was wearing their face coverings. And I think that that the first line of defense. There was more social distancing by a longshot than there would be on a normal session day. And Im proud of our of our colleagues, Democrats and Republicans, for observing that"...

We have some movement on a few bills today.

These bills were approved for consideration, apparently by the Assignments Comittee, very early this morning but were not listed until now. They will be on the Senate Calendar at 2nd reading effective 11/7/2020:

SB2534 Crim Cd - Felon - Vehicle (Tracy)

SB2535 FOID Act - Repeal (Anderson)

SB3033 Gun Crime Charge & Sentencing (Anderson)

Hmmm This is on all three ( SB2534, SB2535, SB3033 ) now:

5/24/2020 Senate Placed on Calendar Order of 2nd Reading November 17, 2020
5/24/2020 Senate Rule 2-10(a) Third Reading Deadline Established As June 23, 2020

Do / can committees do things (June 23, 2020 deadline) before that November 17, 2020 date
or is this a procedural "NOT!" ?

.. Not! - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org › wiki
... Not! is a grammatical construction in the English language used as a function word to make negative a group of words or a word.
... A declarative statement is made, followed by a pause, and then an emphatic "not!" adverb is postfixed.

The result is a negation of the original declarative statement.

Any idea why the ILGA website shows next scheduled session for the senate for tomorrow May 26th?

When Spring Session began, they scheduled all the way through May 31. When the pandemic caused cancellations they were reviewing their ability/need to meet on a weekly basis. The ILGA home page continued to reflect the original schedule through most of the Spring, subject to those weekly changes.

At the beginning of this past week the House had already expressed a hope to end session, by Friday at that time. The Senate was less certain about their ability to end early and continued to post "next days" as if nothing would change.

When they finally did end session they had reached the early morning hours of Sunday, 5/24. It was about 1 AM for the Senate if I remember correctly. My guess is by that point non-critical staff had gone home, so the home page didn't get updated.

The Adjournment Resolution clearly shows 11/17/2020, though, and that's what was stated in both chambers :

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that when the two Houses adjourn on Saturday, May 23, 2020, the House of Representatives stands adjourned until Tuesday, November 17, 2020, or until the call of the Speaker; and the Senate stands adjourned until Tuesday, November 17, 2020, or until the call of the President.

Thanks Mauser. Had I know there were adjournment resolutions available, I wouldn't have asked :) Learn something new every day.

What does this mean for SB1966? It hasn't been extended past May 31. Is that still a possibility even though the House and Senate stand adjourned until November?

They can breathe new life into a bill at any point up until the next session. Heck, we've even seen a bill that passed both houses go to the next governor to be signed... (IL GDL)

Yes, they're still trying to get the support they need for this bill. We'll need to be alert during the Veto and Lame Duck sessions (if there is a Lame Duck session).
