Reconsider if you think election seats don't matter at lower levels. County board members can move on up to higher legislative positions and if they are already promoting "common sense gun laws"...

..."Firearms, floods and lobbyists top issues in county board primary

Gun reform, flooding and the use of lobbyists are among the top issues being raised by Democrats seeking their party's nomination for a District 4 seat on the DuPage County Board.

The five candidates in the crowded Democratic primary on March 17 are Hadiya Afzal of Glen Ellyn, Janette DeFelice of Glen Ellyn, John Jacobs of Wheaton, Lynn LaPlante of Glen Ellyn and Hailey Nicewanner of Glen Ellyn.

The top vote-getter will advance to the general election in November to face incumbent Republican Tim Elliott of Glen Ellyn.

<snip>

Meanwhile, LaPlante says she believes county board members could play a role in promoting gun reform.

LaPlante said she's been involved for years in the gun violence prevention movement. That experience has taught her that state and federal legislation is the only way to achieve change.

So if she's elected to the county board, LaPlante would use the seat to advocate for "common-sense" gun laws.

"It's a platform," LaPlante said. "When you're given a platform and access to other politicians who have the legislative authority, then you get to use your platform for causes like this."

While she says she would reach out to state and federal lawmakers, LaPlante doesn't believe DuPage should be using state and federal lobbyists.

This fiscal year, DuPage is spending $220,000 to use three lobbying firms -- two in Springfield and one in Washington.

But LaPlante says county board members should make their own connections with lawmakers. "That is their job," she said."...

Janet DeFelice is the classic hoplophobe. There's a home-based FFL in the neighborhood.

She went bazook, publicly, then pulled the article.

But, there'a always google cache.

My kids walk home from school every day and, unbeknownst to me, they were walking past a gun shop. Did other parents know about this? It seems like something that would be incredibly important to know.

I sat on this information for a few weeks, not really knowing what to do with it. In hindsight, I may have been in denial, thinking we could just go on, business as usual. But I discovered something about myself in 2019. After years of keeping quiet, being the good little suburban mommy, I discovered that if I don’t speak up, I feel like I’m disintegrating. I literally feel like I’m disintegrating. The knowledge I uncovered on my Google Maps search gnawed at me. Still, I had to do my research.

The only research I could really do was to visit the website of [name of gun-based business]. The top of the page was all about getting your guns engraved, which struck me as odd. Engraved guns? Must be a part of the culture. I asked my husband about this (he’s a country boy who’s been around guns his whole life) and these are his exact words: “It’s like getting a tattoo on your dick. It’s stupid.” But that’s neither here nor there.

Additionally, it seems transfers of ownership are also performed at this location. I scrolled further down the website and saw that you could also get a custom holster the size of a cupcake. Yum!

Then we got to the real ****: Complete Handgun $175, Complete Revolver $200, Complete AR $450+. Whether they are selling, buying, or rubbing them in oil and putting them up their bums really makes no difference to me. We are less than 1,000 feet from an elementary school. A place where hundreds of parents send their precious little lives every day, trusting they’ll be safe. A place where 5-year-olds and 6-year-olds have to participate in lock-down drills just in case someone comes in, or drives by when the kids are out at recess, carrying a newly-engraved or newly-transferred AR and does the unthinkable.

These idiots are irrationally terrified of guns in the possession of responsible gun owners. I am terrified of such idiots being in possession of the right to vote -- and worse -- to run for and hold public office!

She ought to be terrified of her kids going to school for an education, but instead being socially and politically indoctrinated by leftist whack jobs!

For the district, Tim Elliott is a solid guy. He was two years ahead of me in high school and was friends with my older sister. They did all kinds of high school kids stuff in close proximity and Tim was the guy who always made sure people got home safe. He's also one heck of an attorney. I can't think of a better set of hands to trust with D4.

The tattoo analogy and the thoughts of oiling things up and inserting them in certain part of the body by this, so called journalist, makes me think no one in her neighborhood is safe.... Maybe that family should be avoided, given they have no or very little filter.

Was that published by an actual paper or just a post?

The sexual references of this oddball would be more concerning to me than the FFL....this is one strange family. Country boy dad sounds like a real tool and he found a nother tool to marry

Wow, what did I just read?

It's a good insight into the mind of an anti-gunner who has a completely irrational fear of guns. She's bordering on hysteria because there is an FFL living down the street from her? Insane.

I'd love to have an FFL living down the street from me. How convenient!
