Ranger Posted July 27, 2020 at 04:09 PM Share Posted July 27, 2020 at 04:09 PM Just a heads up for those in McHenry County area… Sue Avila is one of the most extreme anti-gun zealots I’ve had the misfortune of getting to know. Although I doubt if she could detail the differences between a revolver and semi-auto, she considers herself an “expert” on firearms. During the time I had to deal with her, she lobbied continuously for much tighter gun control (think prohibition). Despite living in the Chicago area, she also considered herself an expert on the dangers of fracking for oil and was very vocal and active in advocating that fracking be prohibited in Illinois. Now, she is part of a group called “Activists For Racial Equity in Crystal Lake”. That group is lobbying for passage of a resolution by the McHenry County Board to end the county contract with ICE. If approved, the local jail would no longer house or transport ICE detainees. That group and the Collaborative for Health Equity Cook County is asking for people to lobby members of the McHenry County Board to vote yes on Resolution 8564. I would encourage all the IllinoisCarry members in that area to contact the McHenry County Board and share their perspective on Resolution 8564. Supposed to be discussed at 8:30 tomorrow morning (see the agenda at the following link). http://mchenrycountyil.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=14&ID=5070&Inline=True
mchenryill Posted July 27, 2020 at 05:03 PM Share Posted July 27, 2020 at 05:03 PM All their emails are available on the McHenry County web site. This is one of those issues where having Franks the board chairman hurts. His seat is up this December. Pandering time. He's been tied into Madigan. GSDlady Posted July 28, 2020 at 12:51 AM Share Posted July 28, 2020 at 12:51 AM They had their "protest" Saturday on the Woodstock Square. I emailed all the committee members and cc'ed Franks and my three remaining board members. So far I've only received one reply back from a committee member. He stated that he believes the committee will follow my advice (keep the contract).
