Gina Raimondo and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, two of President-elect Joe Biden’s cabinet picks, have advocated for strict gun control measures in the past. The pair of cabinet picks join a growing list of at least seven appointed members of Biden’s administration that have suggested, enforced or passed firearms laws before joining the former vice president’s team.Raimondo pushed a package of gun control bills in 2019, including a ban on so-called “assault weapons” and “high-capacity” magazines, while Walsh pushed Congress to adopt firearms licensing measures.Democratic Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, two of President-elect Joe Biden’s Thursday cabinet picks, have a history of advocating for gun control, a Daily Caller News Foundation review found.Raimondo, Biden’s pick for Commerce Secretary, pushed for a package of firearms bills in February of 2019, including a so-called “assault weapons” ban, a prohibition on “high-capacity” magazines and a permanent ban on 3D-printed guns, according to WJAR.The governor also spearheaded measures to mandate gun sellers transmit firearm purchase applications to local police departments, require safe gun storage in one’s home and prohibit the carry of loaded rifles and shotguns on public roadways, the local outlet reported....Walsh, Biden’s pick for Labor Secretary, has also called for gun control in the past. The mayor, alongside Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, unveiled a comprehensive firearm restriction bill in 2018 dubbed the Making America Safe and Secure, or MASS act, which would give monetary incentives for states who enact forms of gun regulation, according to Boston Magazine. The bill would have allowed the Justice Department to set aside $20 million annually to award states who implement firearms reform, Boston Magazine reported. Walsh also encouraged Congress to adopt licensing mandates before citizens could purchase firearms, mirroring laws in his home state of Massachusetts, which has some of the most stringent gun regulations in the country, according to the local outlet.... Euler Posted January 8, 2021 at 01:08 PM Share Posted January 8, 2021 at 01:08 PM It's a pretty safe bet Biden will pick only Democrats for his cabinet, so gun control advocates will be heavily represented. Labor Secretary shouldn't have much influence on 2A policy, though. Commerce Secretary certainly could.

Gee, can you smell an attempted regulation prohibiting the sale and purchase of firearms, accessories and ammunition interstate and over the internet?
