jfd287 Posted November 12, 2019 at 05:02 PM Share Posted November 12, 2019 at 05:02 PM So I renewed my DL and got the REAL ID. The ID has my full middle name, previously I’ve only used my midddle initial. Now that the DL name doesn’t match the name on my FOID and CCL do I have to get a name change on them because one has a full middle name and two have a middle initial? BobPistol Posted November 12, 2019 at 05:38 PM Share Posted November 12, 2019 at 05:38 PM My legal name which I consistently use has my middle initial. When you applied for REAL ID, was there an option to use your middle initial? (i.e. enter initial in middle name field to and it accepted it)? Lou Posted November 12, 2019 at 05:46 PM Share Posted November 12, 2019 at 05:46 PM I got my DL upgraded to a Real ID a few months back. I provided my passport as an ID which has my full middle name. My DL, FOID and CCL all have just a middle initial. They had to update my DL with my full middle name so it matches by passport but my FOID and CCL still just show my middle initial. i’ve check the ISP website several times since and my FOID and CCL still appear as valid Bottom line, don’t worry about it. As an aside, if you intend to update to a Real ID go early in the day. Not every clerk works on the Real ID and when they reach a certain point they stop accepting upgrades for that day. richp Posted November 12, 2019 at 06:03 PM Share Posted November 12, 2019 at 06:03 PM Hi, What aggravates me is that a passport will serve in place of Real ID, but a passport isn't enough by itself to get a Real ID issued. Why all the additional paper they insist on? Just grumbling.... Rich Phillips

Tip Posted November 12, 2019 at 06:35 PM Share Posted November 12, 2019 at 06:35 PM Nobody really gives a Roberts backside except ISP. I ran for a couple years with the pictures being different on DL and FOID/FCCL. Got comments from several vendors that they had never seen that before but nobody really cared. He told me itâs nothing to worry about. Unless otherwise told, I will not pay to have my FOID and CCL changed. Molly B. Posted November 12, 2019 at 07:35 PM Share Posted November 12, 2019 at 07:35 PM I strongly suggest not submitting a name change for your FOID or CCL. Your name has not changed and the ISP should already have your middle name, it's just not on your card. ISP has not released a statement about the REAL ID driver's licenses showing the full middle name. So it's status quo until they do. It would be a nightmare on top of the already long wait times for FOID and CCLs renewals if everyone started requesting name changes - and we shouldn't have to pay the $80 to do it either. richp Posted November 12, 2019 at 09:14 PM Share Posted November 12, 2019 at 09:14 PM Hi Dog1, I know that already. My point is if TSA and others say a passport will substitute for the new id, why won't the state just let you upgrade by showing the passport instead of insisting on all the additional documents. I should able to just go to the DMV with my passport and walk out with new paper. Bureaucrats... Rich Phillips

There is no requirement to update address on passport. State mails real Id to verified address. Passport also does not provide ssn. Passport meets signature and dob requirements. cybermgk Posted November 14, 2019 at 03:32 PM Share Posted November 14, 2019 at 03:32 PM I am currently the opposite. My FOID and CCL already have my full middle name, while my old DL doesn't.
