C0untZer0 Posted March 30, 2019 at 05:30 PM Share Posted March 30, 2019 at 05:30 PM Sanctuary is a code word for a government entity that is not going to enforce certain laws. This sounds like they're just considering a resolution in support of the Second Amendment. In order to become a "sanctuary", someone from the count board, sheriff's department or the state's attorney's office would have to say that they are not going to enforce certain laws. THE KING Posted April 2, 2019 at 05:19 PM Share Posted April 2, 2019 at 05:19 PM I attended the Will County meeting this morning. Approximately 40 people in attendance which filled the room and there were people standing outside of the room also. I would say there were 5 women there representing the gun control crowd. There were definitely more people speaking in support of the resolution than there were against it. They typical comments from the gun control crowd about their safety, how they don't want to take away guns, how they support the second amendment BUT, and they used the kids and victims as pawns to make their arguments. It was truly sad. There was a former prosecutor, retired state trooper, gun dealers, instructors and others that spoke in support of the resolution. The board member that proposed this resolution spoke on behalf of the resolution but the board was stacked against us. Personally, I spoke with some of the board members and since the election and the influx of new democrats, the board was 5 - D's to 2 - R's. So to say it was political is an understatement. Unfortunately the Judiciary committe failed to pass this resolution so it is dead in committee. I did speak with those individuals that put this resolution together and it will be submitted again. There were some outstanding speakers there today and I'm glad to say that after this meeting that I was able to talk with them and make some good contacts. Slarti Posted April 3, 2019 at 12:52 AM Share Posted April 3, 2019 at 12:52 AM Ok, so I went and hunted around the Will county web site and found who was in attendance from the March meeting. I don't know if they shift members, but it looks like there are 3 R and 4 D based on the March list. Was there an actual vote at this meeting? Thx
