EdDinIL Posted January 13, 2021 at 07:58 PM Share Posted January 13, 2021 at 07:58 PM How long until bills from a previous session are marked Session Sine Die? Is that a clerk's job to go one-by-one to do it?
mauserme Posted January 13, 2021 at 08:52 PM Author Share Posted January 13, 2021 at 08:52 PM Yes, the clerk does take care of that. I assume it's done electronically these days but, with the start of the new GA, electing a House Speaker and Senate President, etc, updating the bill status might not be the highest priority today. Those bills that were not passed by both bodies by noon today are sine die, though, so we'll turn our attention to new bills which will be filed soon. mauserme Posted January 13, 2021 at 09:22 PM Author Share Posted January 13, 2021 at 09:22 PM Senate President Harmons speaks of the future of the Senate in the 102nd GA, including a warning that Senator Morrison will continue her assault on our rights. His statement came in quick juxtaposition to his thanking the Legislative Black Caucus for reminding Illinois of systemic racism, while apparently condoning the racist nature of Senator Morrison's assault primarily on the Second Amendment rights of Black and Brown communities. Systemic racism? Which political party runs the system in this state, and has predominantly for decades? Which party runs the most populous city in this state, and has for decades? Maybe the senator needs to take a look at that party.

mauserme Posted January 14, 2021 at 12:13 AM Author Share Posted January 14, 2021 at 12:13 AM One quick, possible correction. The House may convene tomorrow to establish offices, etc. Even if that occurs, there will be no action on any bills.
