Tvandermyde Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:37 PM Author Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:37 PM ok the opening statement about the amendments confirms my belief about why the anti-gun amendments were let out....
Scots Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:38 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:38 PM Could you clarify why exactly? The arguments from the antis are hilarious.

Tvandermyde Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:41 PM Author Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:41 PM what he said about the 10 amendments being 2 repub and 8 dem and not using a closed rule....they are going to let the dems anti-gunners scream then vote them down. dems are now squealing about the rule. Scots Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:43 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:43 PM Ah yes - thanks Todd. McGovern just stood up and said that this bill will make it easier for people to get guns and for felons to get guns. Edit - "hidden, loaded gun"

dan Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:44 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:44 PM These anti gun guys are crazy. They do not seem to have a grasp on reality and lie at the drop of a hat. I say pass the bill so we can read it later to see whats in it...
firepiper Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:44 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:44 PM This McGovern guy from Massachusetts just reinforces the point that we should continually bombard our elected officials with our concerns...EVERY DAY.... firepiper Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:46 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:46 PM Mc Govern now and Hastings in committee both have cried that this will allow felons to carry.....obviously do not grasp the concept that it's illegal for them to carry already... mstrat Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:49 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:49 PM "A child" under 20 years old dies every 3 hours... HA HA freaking HA! A huge majority of these "children" dying every day are violent, drug dealing, muggers/robbers/assailants, gang-banging thugs. How about we hope for one every 2 hours!? Or EVERY hour? Especially here in Chicago. I won't lose a wink of sleep over that.
Tvandermyde Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:51 PM Author Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:51 PM we may have to open up nominations for the next Ned Beatty award. dan Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:51 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:51 PM This one is a real piece of work, She must not understand even the simple Constitutional law. mstrat Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:57 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 05:57 PM I haven't weighed in on this topic very heavily - but I'd recommend paying good attention to Rep. Polis. His arguments aren't the crazy, based-in-fantasy, anti-rights nonsense we all love to debunk. He's got some valid arguments against it.
Davey Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:00 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:00 PM Oh so this is where the party is? Heh, I was rambling on in the other thread.
Scots Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:01 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:01 PM I haven't weighed in on this topic very heavily - but I'd recommend paying good attention to Rep. Polis. His arguments aren't the crazy, based-in-fantasy, anti-rights nonsense we all love to debunk. He's got some valid arguments against it. He did indeed make some well-thought-out points, but the fact remains that he still implied that states would no longer have the power to maintain their own gun laws, which simply is not true. If the bill is passed, there still will be no way for ANYONE to carry in IL, even if he/she has a permit in another state.
firepiper Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:05 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:05 PM Can someone please slap these people up side their heads to reinforce the fact that it is already illegal to sell a gun to a felon...
mstrat Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:07 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:07 PM I wonder if even the anti-rights crowd sighs in exhaustion when McCarthy gets up to talk. I know I do. Before she's even spoken a single word.
Davey Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:08 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:08 PM McCarthy wants an amendment to require states to opt in to the reciprocity. Defeating the entire purpose of the bill.

TyGuy Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:10 PM Share Posted November 15, 2011 at 06:10 PM I am sort of compelled by the argument that a state with very weak requirements would then be imposing them on a state with strong requirements. However that doesn't fly with driver's licenses. Woah, a rep from IL arguing for HR822.
