from Active to Under Review

Recommended Posts

I submitted my paperwork to renew my CCL back in early February. My status went active in early April. However, I moved on May 8th (still in IL) and I never got my card before I moved. Now my status is "Under Review" and my current CCL has expired. Is this typical?? From what I've read in here so far, I can still carry since I applied for renewal for expiration. Is that correct? II'm guessing that I now have to wait until I can get a corrected DL, FOID, and then apply for a corrected CCL?

Oh, and I never got an email from the ISP explaining any of this. Big surprise, right?

USPS does not forward unforwardable mail, which your new CCL would be. USPS would have returned it to the ISP, which is why it stopped being Active.

If you're back to "Under Review," I suspect your current CCL is still valid. Getting your address changed quickly is probably of central importance now to keep the ISP from changing your renewal status to Denied, because they don't know where you live or if you're even still alive.

I'll defer to Molly's better insight into the twists in the process.

Ok, I remembered that I went to the IL Secretary of State site previously to report a change of address for driver's license purposes, so that part is done. I went to the IL CCW/FOID page and clicked on the Address Change button for the FOID card, changed my address, and paid the $6.00 fee. My FOID status immediately changed from Active to Under Review. What's the process to change the address for my CCL? The only change of address I could find on that ISP site is for the FOID.

Just a quick bump to my last question, but how do I change the address on my CCL application once my new FOID has been processed/updated? Will a new option appear on the web page under the CCL section? Right now, it just shows "Under Review" for FOID and my CCL renewal since I just moved. In the meantime, I get to play the waiting game to see how long it will be before my FOID gets updated. I'm hoping it won't take a crazy amount of time since it's just an address change.

Update: My FOID status just went Active today after changing my address in May. My CCL status is still Under Review (I started this process in February but moved right before my CCL was mailed out). Is it unreasonable to think that my CCL status should go Active sometime soon since it already was Active prior to me moving in May? Also, are there steps I need to take to request a new CCL? I already paid the $5.00 fee to change my address for my FOID, so I would hope that would also cover me for the CCL?

Since you did a renewal I wonder if you'd fall under the whole "you can update address during renewal process" case.

What does the "inspect element" trick show your status as?

The inspect element shows my CCL status as "Submitted". It sucks because I already paid $150 for a card I never received and because I moved before the new one was mailed out, I have to pay another $75? The system shows my new address when I log in, so I don't understand what the process is. Am I updated or not? Do I still have to request a new CCL and pay $75 even though I never received the last one?
