Glad I'm not an Illinois resident any more.   The current issue of National Review has Rauner  on the cover.  The headline is  "The Worst Republican Governor in America".

Rauner has had  three years. Has he done anything positive for Illinois?  IMO Pritzker will beat him big time. Why? Because Pritzker gets Crook and the increasingly socialist collar counties, plus Rauner loses the downstate supporters who are disgusted with him.  Pritzker will then proceed, under Madigan's direction, to turn Illinois into a pure socialist paradise.

I think the Cook suburban towns and other collar counties are turning pretty red these days. We're tired of our Illinois taxes funding the City of Chicago dysfunction. There's already one neighbor that has a Rauner sign up in his yard.

The economy's good so people are more (upset) about taxes then usual. Despite the crime being out of control in the city the suburban police forces aren't hampered yet, so crime is mostly a city problem.

I think the mudslinging between Kennedy and Pritzker might enforce that.

What exactly do you expect from Rauner? I wouldn't call him dysfunctional by choice.

You do realize that National Review is a FAR LEFT publication? I don't recalling them having an issue with "The Worst Democrat Governor in America". As for Rauner having three whole years to turn Illinois around after decades of the Dems running it into the ground, never going to happen. Especially with Madigan being the puppet master for more than 20 years.

IMO I don't think he loses as many votes as you think downstate. Some yes, but probably in the single digits. Lets see how this plays out especially after Pritzker and Kennedy square off in the primary like two spoiled children. They have enough dirt on each other to wreck themselves. When the people of Cook County find out that Billionaire Pritzker pays less in property taxes then some of them, do you think they will be happy about that?

Don't know how you can call the National Review  a left wing magazine.  William F. Buckley founded it and he was about as far from a lefty as you can get.  I have been a subscriber for several years and can assure you it has a conservative agenda.  Maybe you're thinking of another magazine?

Yeah that was my bad, you're 100% right. There was too much stuff going on in my house when I was typing but the rest of it stands. For some reason I was thinking of Huff and Puff Post.

That part is correct. As long as Madigan is pulling the strings NO republican governor is Illinois will accomplish a thing. In a way it's not all that different from Trump and the Dems. He does something and they throw roadblocks in his way, Madigan is a little more sinister in that he has his cronies do it. I have an escape plan if Pritzker gets into office because Illinois will become unlivable but I would rather stay.

Rauner is out. If you thought he was in the past few years, he was definitely out when he frustratedly declared "I'm not in charge".  We all get his point, Madigan runs things, but if you are the Governor, you simply don't say "I'm not in charge" if you expect to be re-elected......hmmmm.......maybe Rauner knows this?

I don't vote for democrats, never will. Like id did for Rauner, i will support a republican for governor.

Pritzker will absolutely bury this state. If he doesn't take the minimum wage up to 15 bucks in his first two months I'd be surprised. And that's when the last of the companies and businesses with low/no skill manufacturing jobs and other sectors will pour out of the state.

Ok, you understand the repercussions your "no-vote." Some people don't. Lot's of "no-votes" from people who were "rubbed the wrong way" by Trump. Made them feel like they were making a significant stand. Glad Trump still won.

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat. I'll keep the RINOs around until they cross one of my lines, those are 2A, abortion primarily. (Well there's one more big one, but...) I'll have to leave the bubble blank next to Rauner, just like I did Kirk.
