Plastic Gun Ban Bill? Voted on today?

Is there anything to the email I received below?

There’s very little time to explain.

If you don’t make two phone calls right now it may be too late.

Word just broke that radically anti-gun U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) is pushing to try a trick play on the floor of the U.S. Senate to pass a new expanded gun ban TODAY.

Worse, Senate Republican leaders may be about to kowtow and let him get away with it.

Please, right now, stop what you’re doing and call your U.S. Senators right away.

**** Sen. Dick Durbin can be reached at (202) 224-2152

**** Sen. Tammy Duckworth can be reached at (202) 224-2854

Urge them to BLOCK, OPPOSE, and VOTE AGAINST the expanded plastic gun ban.

If you need help reaching your Senators, call the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

Specifically, they’re talking about RAMMING through a bill banning so-called “3D printed guns.”

But just like the recent gun accessory bans, the goal is much more sinister than that.

They’re really trying to strip you of your right to make your own LEGAL tools for self-defense.

After all, plastic guns are already illegal, and even the so-called “3D printed” guns still require a metal firing pin.

Once again, this Trojan horse bill will only serve to placate the rabidly anti-gun media who always come back demanding MORE gun control.

Again this gun control vote could happen today, within the next couple hours!

Every second counts.

Please call your U.S. Senators right now.

**** Sen. Dick Durbin can be reached at (202) 224-2152

**** Sen. Tammy Duckworth can be reached at (202) 224-2854

Urge them to BLOCK, OPPOSE, and VOTE AGAINST the expanded plastic gun ban.

And thank you again for taking action.

For Freedom,

Dudley Brown
President
National Association for Gun Rights

Don't know anything about the particular bill, but being realistic, Durbin and Ducksworth would support any anti-2A bill, trick play or not, so not sure how much good contacting them would do in this case.

The more people that contact them on pro-gun issues, the better. There's never a wasted call to your senators.

Yes it is. Not wasted in the sense that at least you did what you could, but certainly wasted in the sense that they don't care about gun rights. Neither of those traitors to the Second Amendment are ever gonna oppose anti gun legislation. Especially Durbin.

Guess we'll agree to disagree on that. No amount of calls will change their stance as they are both pretty entrenched on gun control, IMO any such time would be better spent working to further those with a chance to unseat them the next time they come up for election. Not trying to be a jerk, just explaining my reasoning.

How the heck did we get stuck with Quacky??? Durbin was used initially to balance the ticket with a downstater, now just gets it handed to him altogether due to seniority in the Senate and his pathetic willingness to do as he's told to do. This isn't a commie state, so how the heck do we have two flaming socialists for senators? Those two idiots don't reflect the wishes and views of the majority of this state. When are otherwise conservative union people and lifelong "Democrats" going to wake up and realize that the Republican party is now the Democratic party of 30 years ago, and the "Democratic" party has become the Socialist party? They refuse to educate themselves and think for themselves, and lazily allow themselves to be led around like sheep by the leftist media against their very own core interests.

Sorry, but anyone who tells you to call Crying Dick and Quacky to urge them to vote against a gun grab should have his head examined.

EDIT: Yes, it's a rant and not as well expressed as I would normally prefer, but Jesus, you talk to these people every day and they are essentially as conservative as most of us here, but they blindly refuse to vote for anything other than so-called "Democrats."

The less they hear pro-gun voices, the more comfortable they will be promoting an anti-gun agenda. You make your choices, but I contact them regularly to let them know my opinion.

The left tells us that the founding fathers never envisioned a gun that carry and shoot several rounds rapidly when the 2nd Amendment was passed, but that they were only addressing single shot weapons.

The 3D gun holds only one bullet and must be reloaded to fire another, just like the founding fathers flintlock.

The Girandoni air rifle was in service with the Austrian army from 1780 to around 1815. Many references to the Girandoni air rifles mention lethal combat ranges of 125 to 150 yards and some extend that range considerably. The advantages of a high rate of fire, no smoke from propellants, and low muzzle report granted it acceptance. It did have problems and was eventually removed from service for several reasons decades after introduction. While the detachable air reservoir was capable of around 30 shots it took nearly 1,500 strokes of a hand pump to fill those reservoirs. Later, a wagon-mounted pump was provided.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition used the rifle in the demonstrations that they performed for nearly every Native American tribe they encountered on the expedition

Some judge issued a TRO to keep the files off the web tomorrow.

Who cares if they make it permanent? That's not going to keep the files off the WORLD WIDE web and that's not going to stop anyone with a VPN (or VPN enabled browser) from accessing them.

Keeping these files away from internet gun people is going to be like keeping internet porn away from teens.

It's the precedent, they aren't baning the creation of the gun, they are banning the file, therefore banning free speech.

A "3d printer file" is a toolpath of a cad file which is just a digital version of the same dimensioned diagram that you'd find in a book. This law taken to its end bans books, something that was around in the time of our founding fathers.

Tell me how a 3d printer file is different then this?

AR10-prints-800x800.jpg

Especially when we have cad software that can digitize paper dimensioned drawings and can automatically create toolpaths for machining and 3d printing.

It's like saying this type of hardcore porn is illegal if saved as a JPG but is legal if saved as a gif or exists in a magazine.

It's maddening that we have people and politicians passing laws on things they don't understand. This is the literal definition of witch hunting.

It happens because people don't bother to vote.

It's a 2 part legislation, Chucky Schumer has been arguing for years the past plastic gun bill had a "loophole" that allowed for the removal of metal post manufacturer to get around the metal content the bill required.

Uh, yeah, gun manufacturers, don't innovate because you need to meet this specific metal content. Oh and btw we'll still ban your guns because if you've added more metal then is necessary to fire a bullet and if the end user removes it they can get around this stupid ban.

They started out down this path when the Glock came out in the 80's. They used the metal detector lie because they wanted to ban inexpensive good guns. It's in a way an extension of the melt laws around Saturday night specials.

The second part will be used to block kit and equipment suppliers for home made guns. Gee, that's a nice website you got there, it would be a shame if anything happened to it for providing instructions with the kits your selling...
seized_cf6b.jpg

Remember, it's a zero sum game. They want to push to make sure every single gun, new, used, or manufacturered is approved and traced by the government and prohibitevly expensive. Then they can go back and confiscate all those guns for every little reason, defacto banning guns for the purpose of the 2nd ammendment.

People get caught up in the government PR for these bills without peeling back the covers to see what their more sinister intentions are.
"guns that bypass metal detectors SHOULD be illegal".

"the government can't stop files from going around the net"

or going back to bump stocks "who cares about bump stocks, they're a stupid accessory" while setting the precedent that the government can declare previously legal private property illegal and require its destruction. Grandfathering and nfa amnesty are off the table now. Same rules could befell a modified glock or banning the FN 57 that uses extensive plastics.
