ISP is hiring Firearms Eligibility Analyst

So every once in a while I take a look at what jobs Illinois is hiring for. No real reason just because. I came across these. Anyone in the Springfield area looking for a job or a second job. No better way to get first hand knowledge of the train wreck the FOID and CCL process has become and what if anything that is being done to fix it.

Board has previuosly had a thread on the posted policies and procedure manual that went over the process and weeks of training for new hires which might give someone more insight.

I think that was the manual that was obtained via FOIA ;)

indeed it was...and they do more than just plug a name into an application and update based on response. I think I saved it somewhere. Wish the board was a tad more search friendly.

Michigan is starting to use the Bloomberg inspired tactics that are currently in play in Illinois. Below is a segment of an email sent to my rep.

Jason,
While watching the news last evening, I noticed that the State of Michigan is experiencing a delay in renewal and initial issuance of Michigan CPLs. The functionary in charge of the issuance just advised the cpl holders to be patient and just not carry while they wait for renewal of or initial issuance of State approved licenses. Kind of defeats the purpose of having CPLs doesn't it.
Having been a former Illinois resident, I recognize this ploy, as the state of Illinois is currently playing the same game. Illinois extorts 30 million a year from their gun owners. They then commingle the funds into the general fund or other pet political projects to make the bottom line look better, then they under fund the renewal office resulting in a short staff. At my last check, there was one individual handling renewals and issuance s in Illinois The current Illinois back log is several thousands of CCW and FOIDs which is an additional insult to the gun owners of Illinois.
Are we now playing the same game here, or is this bureaucrat just some activist anti gunner that thinks he is doing his part to curtail weapons in the state of Michigan? Or is this functionary a democratic operative acting on the behest of the governor, or Mike Bloomberg?
I know from our previous discussions that you were Pro 2A. I assume that is still the case. I would strongly encourage you to investigate this abuse of state law. I know there are a lot of things that happen in a state, and this could be easily overlooked. But this abuse of power by a bureaucrat must not go unchecked. I look forward to hearing back from you and or seeing action on your part to correct this injustice.
Thank you,
Your constituent

Actually, Jason Wentworth is a pretty straight shooter, you should have legislators like him in Illinois. Ex MP, college degree He has a meet the constituents a couple of times a month in some of the more remote towns at local restaurants, and he takes the time to listen. Very pro 2A and a common sense legislator. He is a good one, but I believe he will be term limited out after the next election. His next stop will be the state senate if he can get elected. I don't envision a cookie cutter, but only time will tell. If I get anything back either way, I can post or PM you if you like.

So they have money to spend on someone who looks to prevent people from getting a FOID or a CCL, but nothing to actually issue licenses to people who are eligible and have been waiting forever. Scum.

This job title is who processes the applications

Right.

I do not understand the reason for all the negative remarks. I do not know if this will add the number of people processing or it is replacing those who have left.

Apparently some here would be happy to have fewer processors so that there is an even longer delay of getting the applications to the review board.

Do you have to "know someone" to get this position?

You have to be offered as a friend of mine, by some connected political insider, who also btw, vouches for the guy and is responsible for him/her.

Or, in Chicagospeak, "We don't want nobody that nobody sent."

Hah, you chumbolones think that you're going to get anywhere with this. Hah!

I got some televisions in the back alley that I swear fell off a truck I want to sell yous.

"Eligibility Analyst" implies someone running background checks. Or, the idiots are incapable of properly classifying their positions. "Processors" process.

If you are correct in your claim, that is.
