On Wednesday, two Democrats, one in the House and one in the Senate, brought forth legislation that would create a federal firearms licensing system that would register all gun sales and transfers.

For the fourth time in 11 years, Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) introduced The Blair Holt Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act; he had already introduced a form of the bill in 2007, 2009, and 2013. According to Rushs website, the bill would prohibit unlicensed gun-ownership and transferring or receiving firearms without a valid firearms license, as well as direct the Attorney General to establish and maintain a federal record of sale system. It would also require universal background checks for all purchases or transfers of firearms.

Rush said, "Americans are demanding that Congress take real action to prevent gun violence and we must address this issue head on and do our part to prevent the senseless mass killings and shooting deaths in cities across this nation.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), who introduced a similar version of the bill in the Senate, added, "We owe it to the countless and growing number of firearm violence victims to take action. I don't want my daughters to have to grow up in a country that wont protect them from firearm violence, which is why I'm proud to join Congressman Rush in this effort and we will keep pushing until all of Americas children are safe."

They need to get a few Democrat senators running for reelection from Red states to pitch in on this. It'd be political suicide.....But hey: it's for the children!

Would it be wise for the question to be asked to all candidates regardless of party prior to elections? I think it would.

Would this apply to Phather Phlaky's bodyguards? Asking for a friend.

Just some guy.................................

Will that also apply to Mr. Rush's former group, the Black Panthers? Or will the latest version be "special"?

Oh, and what's a Duckworth?

Not much.

Duckworth is so predictable. Too bad we have to live with this trash for the next few decades.

That's why I say Duckworth(less) is "quackers", just like the rest of her cronies.

We all need to be grateful that these proposed bills will never be enacted, and if they were, would be vetoed by the President. If America is stupid enough to give the Democrats control of both houses of Congress, and the White House, then it will deserve the tyranny that results to the people.

Are you certain that Trump would veto such a bill? I'm not !! :ermm:

As for "stupid enough", that IS certain as we have seen the evidence of that multiple times in the past. :pinch:

The loony left would love registration, which they would follow with confiscation. They've shown this again and again. And Rush and Duckworth(less) are prime examples of those who hate the Constitution...

the looney left is no longer trying to hide the fact that they want a gun free america, the constitution means nothing to them.i really question the sanity of bobby rush and most of the democratic party these days.

brain dead bobby rush, former leader of the chicago black panthers.this is what the left choose to represent them so i,m not shocked.

I just love this internet stuff.

Rush worked on several non-violent projects that built support for the Black Panthers in African-American communities, such as coordinating a medical clinic which offered sickle-cell anemia testing on an unprecedented scale.[5]Rush's own apartment was raided in December 1969, where police discovered an unregistered pistol, rifle, shotgun, pistol ammunition, training manuals on explosives, booby traps, an assortment of communist literature, and a small amount of marijuana.[6]Rush was imprisoned for six months in 1972 on a weapons charge, after carrying a pistol into a police station. In 1974, he left the Panthers, who were already in decline. "We started glorifying thuggery and drugs", he told People magazine. Rush, a deeply religious born-again Christian, said, "I don't repudiate any of my involvement in the Panther party—it was part of my maturing."
