Brownshoe Posted July 20, 2017 at 12:06 AM Share Posted July 20, 2017 at 12:06 AM I just mailed in my application for a Florida non-resident CCL. I have given Illinois a 73-day head start (applied 05/07/17 with prints). Let's see who get a license in my hand first. At this point, I'm betting it is Illinois (knock on wood), since, with mailing times, it's really three to five more days until Florida even receives my paper application with paper prints. However, I have been sitting at QC_verified since at least 05/19/17 (61 days ago), so I would not put it past Illinois to lose — even with such a big head start. Come on Illinois you've never let a dead body stop you before in history, just look at the voting in Crook County!
Brownshoe Posted July 20, 2017 at 02:08 AM Author Share Posted July 20, 2017 at 02:08 AM Looks like Bubbacs has pulled into the lead. I just checked my Illinois ISP account and I have moved from Under Review / QC_verified to Under Review / Approved. Clearly, this was in response to my posting. Brownshoe Posted July 21, 2017 at 04:37 PM Author Share Posted July 21, 2017 at 04:37 PM Update: The application has been delivered this morning. If Florida were to process it right away and mail it back, they could still beat Illinois. Not likely, but perhaps I should let them know they are in a race. kwc Posted July 21, 2017 at 05:05 PM Share Posted July 21, 2017 at 05:05 PM A close relative with "difficult" fingerprints applied third week of April and is still waiting. FL required a second round of fingerprinting, rejected those too, and forwarded her package to the FBI for vetting. Still waiting!
skinnyb82 Posted July 21, 2017 at 08:20 PM Share Posted July 21, 2017 at 08:20 PM They wanted supplemental paperwork because my print check returned a DUI from 2003. Ironically, I had mailed them the certified disposition because I was trying to ensure that wouldn't happen. One quick phone call to the FL Dept of Ag and Licensing (whatever the official name of the issuing authority) fixed that. "Oh, we didn't see the disposition...." Easier than if ISP had pulled some crap like that. Would be waiting months, years, who knows. Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
Brownshoe Posted July 21, 2017 at 08:30 PM Author Share Posted July 21, 2017 at 08:30 PM I went to the Niles PD to get fingerprinted. The officer who took my prints knew exactly what she was doing; corrected one thing on my fingerprint card, saying Florida prefers it this way; and took great pride in the quality of her fingerprints. She said she hopes they don't get rejected, but if they do, it's free to do them as many times as it takes.

I did wonder about delivery to the office though...does that not imply DL and FOID also have office address? Edit - although he says its waiting for him, not necessarily delivered there. Brownshoe Posted August 1, 2017 at 11:37 PM Author Share Posted August 1, 2017 at 11:37 PM Sorry, posted to from phone. My ILLINOIS CCL was here waiting for me at the office when I got back from work travel today. I use my office address as my mailing address, but the FOID and CCL have my home address on them. ISP allows you to mail the licenses to a different address than your home address. I send things to my office because 1) I'm there a whole lot more than I'm home, and 2) there is more reliable mail delivery to the office than to home for packages and the like. EA is, indeed, executive assistant, i.e. secretary.

Brownshoe Posted August 15, 2017 at 04:17 PM Author Share Posted August 15, 2017 at 04:17 PM Another update. Just checked online, and Florida has issued my CCL. They received it, according to their records, on July 27, 2017, and the license was issued on August 8, 2017. It has not arrived in the mail yet, but a total of 13 days to issue the license is pretty good.
