Illinois Concealed Carry Wait Time 2020

applied for CCL on june 21 2020 no prints because instructor said it wasn't making a difference in getting a license any faster. did the inspect thing and no change since day one. I had hoped to see at least some change after 120 days. doesn't even seem like they even look at it till after 120 days. from what I am seeing on here there doesn't seem to be anything we can do but wait.

As of last week

..."Illinois State Police say the average time for FOID card processing is 116.35 days. FOID cards are supposed to be processed within 30 days.

For Concealed Carry Licenses with fingerprints to go with the applications, ISP said the average time is 129.9 days. Without fingerprints with the application, it’s 154.19 days."...

..."Delays in processing FOID cards have been a problem since before the COVID-19 pandemic. In January, about 62,000 applications backlogged with some people waiting eight months or longer. Six months later, officials reported nearly 64,000 backlogged applications. As of Tuesday, Illinois State Police reported 142,324 pending FOID applications."...

Obviously if your a resident you have to get your FOID before you can get your CCL however, non-residents don’t have to get a FOID first before getting a CCL.

So theoretically, they should start processing our application since we don’t have to wait for a FOID first??? So without prints it should take right at 120 days?

I wonder how long it really takes them to do a background check when everything comes back clear.

Submitted my CCL renewal without prints and without certification on 06/08/2020. Still under review.

Now 135 days and counting.

Well actually, we can apply for both at the same time but I believe the CCL is not processed until after the FOID is processed. I've heard of people getting their FOID card and then waiting another 120 days for their CCL....

Yeesh.

I'm not sure if there's a better forum topic to post in, but since many in this room are often looking up their CCW status, I thought i'd post here.

Looks like the ISP updated their website. However, I initially had trouble signing in because it rejected my birthdate. Seems that it asks for the DD/MM/YYYY format, but will actually require YYYY-DD-MM format.

I entered my birthday in the normal format, I don't know how you people are getting a different format.

The site has a new look and feel (at least for me it does). A new design and it's all blue and white. If you look at the image, it asks for the birthdate in one format, but that failed for me. Based on the error, I was able to figure out the correct format.

CCL Application:

Applied: 6/19/2020

- wiith fingerprints

- no criminal background; had a ticket around15+ years ago

90 days later (9/17): Status is still Submitted

I guess was hoping things were starting to 'speed' up based on PezMar66, The Specialist, and wallet113. :(

So today I received an email from the ISP. Seems I have delay due to my TCN (for fingerprints) was invalid. I called the vendor who provided the fingerprinting service for by CCW class and he already knew what the problem was as soon as I told him i received a letter from the ISP. He said he would follow up with ISP on the mixup. Anybody else have this problem?

Let's see how long this takes now.

Day 129: Just went to QC_Verified sometime this AM.

Update: Moved to Approved a few hours after it was QC_Verified.

Update:

St. Clair County

Applied 20 Jun 2020

Approved 26 Oct 2020 -- 128 Days later

Active 28 Oct 2020 -- 130 Days Later

I did contact both of Senator and Rep for my district at 123 days later and they said they sent my concerns forward so I do not know if that played a part or not.

Now just waiting on the mail.

With the influx of those who applied in June and are now Active, great news and congrats!

But there are several posts throughout this and many other threads show this timeline is exactly where the calls to reps etc fall in.

IMHO it’s just that most are already in that going active range and due to the backdoor trick (inspect element) not being exact, it’s all left to the ISP gods after all.

Seems like the 130 to 140 days out is the new current normal, thank you Mr. Illinois.
