Is it ok to plug/promote a trainer on the forum?

I didnt find the thread, so I'll add it here.

Took the conceal carry in June. My son took it in Aug, and we both just to the defensive pistol class yesterday.

Both John and John are great instructors; lots of deal and huge on safety.

Prices are great. The defensive pistol class is $50.00 for 3 hours of instruction at their outdoor range

I've been looking for something like this. A reasonably priced defensive class that's not too far away. Can you be a bit more specific on what you liked and what might be improved upon?

I liked that they built the habit of safety by repetition - rehandling a gun that was shown empty 10 minutes ago. It obviously didn't load itself from the last demonstration. But checking to build the habit.

I liked the detail and discussions during the conceal carry, and also re-intro of the fundamentals at the beginning of the defensive pistol, working up to shooting and moving, shooting in awkward positions.

I am more of an archer and shotgunner, than a handgunner (hence the name - Flingarrows), but did shoot on the pistol team in the ANG 25 years ago. I needed some help getting my group tightened up, and getting reacquainted with a handgun. Both John and John were more than willing to spend a few minutes analyzing what I was doing wrong.

The class built confidence in handling/holstering a pistol in battery. I am expecting my license in the email this week, and will have no issues carrying chambered after this class.

I plan on taking the defensive pistol again in the spring (too close to hunting season, my busy time of the year :)

Just out of curiosity, what was covered in a 3 hr defensive pistol class?

It started with a range safety briefing, then shooting on paper, drawing from holster, double tap, retention against a grab, surveying after a shoot, moving while shooting, shoot in awkward positions (using one of those walls, with slots and holes at different places. Not sure what it is called), engaging multiple targets. I went through about 350 rounds during the class

Interesting. A class short enough to fit in an evening or "half day" on a Saturday. Sounds like a nice next step really for folks that are comfortable with the whole carry/draw/shoot concept but maybe haven't committed or don't have time for an 8hr gig. 350 rds sounds pretty good for such a short class.

Having no prior experience in this area, it was definitely a great learning experience.

The day that I went it was supposed to start at 9am, but was raining. They called at 820 to see if I would mind starting at 1230. That worked for me so we just had it after the rain passed.

If you are traveling far and rain is forecasted, you may want to email the night before to see if there is a plan B
