Omega Man Posted August 28, 2016 at 04:48 AM Share Posted August 28, 2016 at 04:48 AM I was in my local Wally this morning. Checked the ammo department before I left. There was a young woman with a cart full of ammo stocking the case. It's been quite awhile since I had seen any 22LR in the case. I thought it was my lucky day with all the boxes that were in the cart. After wishing the young woman a good morning, I asked if she had any .22s in stock. The answer was no. The next thing she said was Walmart wasn't going to stock .22s anymore. They were getting out of that caliber. Seemed a little odd to hear that but I didn't question her. I guess they aren't making enough money off .22s now a days. 😕

The next thing she said was Walmart wasn't going to stock .22s anymore. They were getting out of that caliber.I heard a different take on this story in lake county. "The sporting goods manager took all the price markers out of the ammo display for .22" I found this in another thread: it seems closer to reality: "As I was looking at this, I noticed, no shelf tags for .22 rimfire? So when the guy who runs the department was free I asked him what the deal was. He said corporate had made the decision not to have dedicated shelf space for any .22 as a stock item, as they felt there would be no certain, steady supply for the forseeable future. It will come in on an as available basis."

F12Mahon Posted August 28, 2016 at 02:35 PM Share Posted August 28, 2016 at 02:35 PM Freeport Walmart was redoing their ammo shelves and from looking at the display map there was no place for .22. Eugene
DRugerH Posted August 29, 2016 at 02:41 PM Share Posted August 29, 2016 at 02:41 PM While I've not seen any .22LR at ANY Walmart I've visited, the Bolingbrook Bass Pro put the .22 back on the shelves (not behind the counter like they've been doing). They even had .22 Magnum. Dan

mikew Posted September 1, 2016 at 04:37 AM Share Posted September 1, 2016 at 04:37 AM I was at Glen Ellyn walmart on IL53 tonight:I saw no price tags for .22LR on the shelves. The CB 22's , and lots of misc ammo ( 17 rimfire, 410 handgun, Remington 222 Rem, Federal 44 Mag) were all piled in the bottom of the cabinet. They had some CCI 22Mag in stock, however. DRugerH Posted September 1, 2016 at 12:59 PM Share Posted September 1, 2016 at 12:59 PM I was at the Darien Walmart and they restocked their ammo case with .22LR. Their mini mags were at $9.96 though, so closer to gun shop prices than Walmart prices. They had other ammo, the Federal 333 and the 555 bricks and they were at the prices you all mentioned. I have so much .22LR that I didn't bother purchasing any. I don't think I've shot .22LR in about a year or so. Dan
