Chicago Ammo Sales and Social Media

Gentlemen, I have a suggestion. I know I haven't been here as long as most of you, so feel free to say "shut up, newbie". If not, though - I could use your help. Together, I believe we could render this thread useless and convince all online ammunition retailers to ship to Chicago. Bear with me here.

The idea in a nutshell is this; we use social media to out these retailers and put friendly (but firm) pressure on them to either start selling to Chicago residents, or publicly state a valid reason why they will not. After all, perhaps there is something we're not aware of.

I think if some of us would go to these large retailer's Facebook and Twitter accounts and post something to this effect:

(I am using this text on Natchez Outdoors, who I recently placed an order with that was denied)

I was under the impression that COMPANY_NAME supported the second amendment and would do so strongly, but I was disturbed to discover that I couldn't buy ammunition from your company based on my location here in Chicago. I can only assume this is based on the (old and now defunct) ordinance that banned this, however that law was struck down many years ago. There is no legal reason COMPANY_NAME couldn't ship ammunition to Chicago, just as many other pro-2A retailers legally do every day. Despite it being perfectly legal, COMPANY_NAME's customer service department told me it was not legal when I tried to place an order recently. Why?

I'm sure COMPANY_NAME is aware that the toughest and most important fights for our second amendment rights aren't happening in places like rural Texas or North Dakota: the front lines are places like Chicago and places like it where millions of us currently live and are fighting for our 2A rights daily. Can COMPANY_NAME explain why your company still refuses to support customers in Chicago, despite it being perfectly legal to do so for many years now?

I will continue to do this with as many retailers as I can, but I think it would have more of an effect on these retailers if some of you joined me and did the same. Perhaps we could even coordinate this, support each other with replies to these threads of encouragement...and coordinate it all right here from the forums? Just ten of us could make a single post with a few replies that I guarantee would end up on the CEO's desk at any one of these companies, and force them to at least confront the issue. If we make enough noise, they can't ignore us. They'll have to either recognize our legal rights, or publicly state why they don't care about the millions of customers and 2A advocates here in Chicago.

We've seen where the old argument of "well, they're a private company..." has gotten us. Huge corporations like Google, Facebook, Twitter et al have become the home for all of our communications, all of our information - our lives. We've seen how they, together with the large media conglomerates have censored and gaslit and silenced anyone who doesn't fall in line with their agenda. A privately owned corporation can trample rights just as easily as any government... but that doesn't mean it's right or shouldn't be pushed back against.

At the end of the day, no one else is gonna do this for us. We may as well stand up for our rights. Anyone here with me?

If I can count on some of you for support, I suggest we keep this located here in this thread... unless the mods would like it moved to it's own thread. Those of you who I've met are some of the best folks I've had the privilege of knowing. I'm sure between a few of us, we can make a real difference here in one of the largest cities in the world.

I don't think it's hyperbolic to say we can change history here - even if it's not besieging a federal courthouse.

I don't use social media, but if others want to try that go ahead, I guess. I'm not sure it would be productive as these vendors can come up with any reason they like to not ship ammunition to someone. I'd personally rather do business with friendly people than stubborn jerks.

I don't expect a 100% success rate, but I do think it could make this a much smaller issue. Especially when these companies start to realize their competitors are selling to a market of millions that they've decided not to.

At the end of the day, we can get them to at the very least PUBLICLY state why they won't. For me? I'd always rather turn a stubborn jerk into a friendly person. Believe it or not, its possible.

OK, I got the ball rolling with Natchez. I put a public post to their page, however the mods of the page would have to approve it - and I would be surprised if they did. But keep your fingers crossed, maybe they will!

In the meantime, I also replied to the one "visitor post" on their page. If others would like to head over there and post their thoughts on my post, please feel free to do so (I replied to the only post that says "Any Promo Codes...". Click on the replies, you'll see mine - and then leave yours if you would like.

Let's see if this works! Here's the link:

I'm going to start with CDNN and Cheaper Than Dirt next. I'll post links to them when I do.

Even simply just clicking "like" on my reply would be helping a lot, guys. If these folks see that people are paying attention, they WILL respond. Thanks!

Mods: again, if this should have it's own thread, I'm happy to do that. Just let me know.

As far as Cheaper than Dirt, they are one of the biggest money grubbing whores around and took full advantage several years ago marking up ammo and parts at sometimes 3 to 4 times the original cost and maybe even more. I fully support private businesses and that they can increase the prices however they feel but they went way overboard like many of the neckbeard horders reselling stuff at exorbitant prices. And what they did right after Sandy Hook cemented it. For those that dont know, they cancelled a whole bunch of active orders that had been placed during times of regular prices by simply saying the ammo was out of stock. But a check of the website revealed that there was stock, but at an extremely inflated price. They didnt want to lose a single dime that they could make. Even if CTD did start selling to Chicago, they would never get a dime from me and many others in the gun world would agree with me.

Good idea. This is a new topic split from the Online ammunition sellers who will ship to Chicago thread. This way we can keep the two efforts separate but co-ordinated.

Thanks bbkchicago.

I actually got nothing against the social networks retrailers to be honest. Ok, as long as they do it all official then it is ok, i would even support them. Dude, i lived 5 years in Germany, you cannot even imagine how tough it is to get your hands on a gun. And i do not mean illegaly doing it. It is extremely difficult and you should be waiting for a heck a lot of time. So the fact that we even get the possibility to buy ammo online, that is awesome for me. As long as they do it official and have some great social network pages, which also makes them even more reliable, if you see that they do not look for how to buy instagram followers, than why not, it is really great.
