No. You do not need an FFL to ship to the mfg or any FFL gun smith. I am in Chicago. Back in the no guns days, I sent a pistol to S&W for repair. The shipping to them was at my cost and I shipped via FedEx overnight, as required. They returned the gun to my door via USPS where it sat on the front porch until I returned home later that evening. Same thing happened with a different gun I sent out for repair just a couple years ago... the replacement mailman just left it at the door. My regular guy knows to actually get the adult signature and not just leave it on the porch. It is likely Kahr will return it to you via USPS because it doesn't cost nearly as much. Anonymous One Posted March 24, 2020 at 07:58 PM Share Posted March 24, 2020 at 07:58 PM I've had to send a Ruger and a S&W in for warranty service. In each case, they sent a prepaid UPS label, and I dropped them off at the UPS store. They both notified me by email that the guns were on their way back and gave me the tracking numbers. They were returned to me by UPS and not by the post office.

No. You do not need an FFL to ship to the mfg or any FFL gun smith. He will if the manufacturer replaces the gun. (He should. I've had it both ways. ) I am in Chicago. I had CZUSA ship me a gun back loose in a nylon reinforced envelope. (somewhere in the 2001-5 time frame.) And almost every company except KelTec, Taurus and Bersa, covered return shipping. MagSlap Posted April 9, 2020 at 01:08 AM Share Posted April 9, 2020 at 01:08 AM Welp....Funnily enough...I had an issue with a Kahr firearm. Trigger issue.I had bought it a GAT a few years ago and bought their lifetime smithing warranty($25)Brought it in and described the sporadic problem. Henry the smith I spoke with understood the problem and was able to make it clear to Kahr it was a safety issue. I was expecting to be told 'You Crazy son!" After demonstrating how I could induce the issue Henry agree'd.GAT did their thing and determined it had to go back to Kahr. It was mailed back on the 18th last month. It came back last friday.I was floored when I got a call saying it was back that quickly. Was told they replaced the trigger and polished it up.Dry fired it about 50 times with no issues at all. It feels good and the trigger issue is fixed. I have yet to get it to the range tho. Cost? $0 with the GAT warranty. So...Kahr's CS? Top Notch!GAT? Top Notch! I will also mention that 2 months ago(before the trigger problem) when I took it out of the safe I had an issue with the Guide rod spring. The front tip was 'gone' after I cleaned it. I called Kahr about it and the mailed me a new assembly at no cost. It was a five minute wait on the phone, A friendly convo with a girl that actually used to live within 10 miles of where I am! We laughed..we cried...I got a GR spring. I almost feel guilty cuz I found the silly piece to it two days later on the floor. I just screwed it back it and all was well. (I screwed it back on pretty tight to point its difficult to unscrew because I'd really light to loctite it) So being a data point on 'one'...I'll simply say that I'm very happy with how Kahr backs up their products. Checking Kahr's website, their budget line C-series guns are showing a 1 year warranty.
