XJBluto Posted June 26, 2019 at 11:00 PM Share Posted June 26, 2019 at 11:00 PM Applied for renewal 1/19/19. Went ACTIVE 4/17/19. I still have not received my CCL in the mail. I've spent HOURS trying to get through on the ISP phone line. I get the recorded message to call back, heavy calls.I've tried all times of the day- no luck. Sent an e-mail to the ISP help website and no response. Is this normal? What are my options? Assume I can still carry with my expired card and proof that I have renewed and that I am "active" . Any recourse or suggestions are appreciated.

InterestedBystander Posted June 27, 2019 at 04:17 AM Share Posted June 27, 2019 at 04:17 AM Did you have mail forwarded? CCL will not get forwarded. Yes, your experience with calls and email to ISP is normal. Molly is a resource. Otherwise perhaps your state Senator or Representative can help. XJBluto Posted June 27, 2019 at 10:40 PM Author Share Posted June 27, 2019 at 10:40 PM Thanks all. Received a PM from a member here and have contacted the ISP. Spoke to a Jonathan. He was vey helpful. Hope to have my CCL soon. He said it was not returned, (says if it was undeliverable they are supposed to return to ISP and it was not) so since I have watched my mail like a hawk he explained that he feels it was lost in the mail and he has ordered another to be mailed. Resuming my wait and see.

Was 6-18 the day it went active? Still has to be batched, then sent to PO and delivered. They say give it 4 weeks but maybe up to 2 depending on where you live from Springfield seems reasonable. Maybe that's a good sign for both of us. EDIT: It came today, day 114, 13 days after finally going active.
XJBluto Posted July 10, 2019 at 10:46 PM Author Share Posted July 10, 2019 at 10:46 PM So, Applied for renewal 1/19/19;Active 4/4/19, lost in the mail........SOMETIME after 4/4/19; spent several weeks helplessly calling the ISP help phone (NEVER AN ANSWER OF THE PHONE). Received help from MOLLY on this forum (6/29/19) with additional contact #'s; Called a new number @ ISP, spoke to a Jonathan who verified that it was lost in the mail; Jonathan put me in for a new card to be shipped; Received today 7/10/19. Nearly 6 months from renewal to receipt. Any questions as to the efficiency of the system have been answered unequivocally. Cheers to the Socialist Republic of Illinois.......... Ardvark Posted October 26, 2019 at 01:38 PM Share Posted October 26, 2019 at 01:38 PM I seem to have the same problem as other posters - I haven’t received my renewed CCL or updated FOID in the mail yet (91 days wait so far). I renewed my CCL prior to expiration and it went ACTIVE 7/25. I see that my FOID has been updated, even though it has more then a year to expiration, with a new number and it is listed as ACTIVE 7/29. I have USPS informed delivery, which has been checked every day, with no indication that anything has been sent from the ISP. I have called the ISP Customer Support many times but no answer. I also sent them a web message inquiry on the ISP site, stating the above but have not received a response. Their FAQs say that if I don’t report a undelivered FOID or CCL within 6 months, I will have to resubmit. So, I have called and I have emailed - but no response. What’s next? cnwfan3 Posted October 26, 2019 at 03:03 PM Share Posted October 26, 2019 at 03:03 PM You just have to keep calling, everyday, several times a day. It took me a couple of weeks of calling about 20 times a day, but I finally got through. Once you get through, you will most likely be on hold a few hours so make sure you have time to burn once you get through. I had similar issues and it turned out that for some reason, they did not print the card. Once I finally talked to someone, it took about 2 weeks to get it. But the key is keep calling and be persistent. And once you get through, be prepared to be on hold for a while. It really stinks that it's so hard to get through, but that the reality because they only have 5 people that answer the phones and the get tons of calls a day. wazzle Posted October 27, 2019 at 03:22 PM Share Posted October 27, 2019 at 03:22 PM I have called and spoke to a human two different times. My thought is don't try it on a Monday. Wait until early afternoon during the middle of the week. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Ardvark Posted October 31, 2019 at 07:00 PM Share Posted October 31, 2019 at 07:00 PM Update: I hammered the ISP Firearms Services number with my speed-dialer for about 20 minutes, Monday morning (10/28), and was able to get into the call waiting queue. After about 5 minutes a helpful young lady answered and was able to determine that my CCL & FOID hand been sent back by the USPS. Seems to be a Post Office SNAFU as I haven’t moved in 20 years. She had it in a file and read the address off, which was exactly correct. So, sent again and I have the cards in hand 3 days later.
Bitter Clinger Posted November 1, 2019 at 10:52 AM Share Posted November 1, 2019 at 10:52 AM Having to call 20 times per day until you get through and then wait on hold for hours is not even remotely acceptable. Also, it sure seems that these things get "lost in the mail" very frequently. I know the USPS isn't the greatest, but I can't recall the last time any of my mail got "lost".I think the ISP is the problem here and THEY are the ones "losing" the CCL's. Of course it would probably become a multi million dollar website but function like a bad fax machine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We have to remember that “JB the Hut” destuffed the ISP in the Firearms Services, likely because he didn’t want it to be too convinent to own a gun - you know.
