Applied on 2/20/15 without prints

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I applied on 2/20/15 without prints- the instructors in the course I took suggested not doing prints because it does not take much longer to get approved.

Realistically, with having no prints done, what kind of timeline can I expect to be approved, and actually having my license in hand.

Thanks in advance for your input.

In my world 60 more days IS much longer.

If you did prints you would probably have your CCL in hand.

Without hi-jacking/subject changing........

Wonder how many instructors, when applying EARLY last year to get the jump on training, actually submitted with prints?

I now ask and wonder out loud as I see more and more posts from students saying the instructors say to apply without.

There are more than 17 threads about getting approved in 30 days WITH prints and getting the actual card soon after.

Many posts about the 90 plus days WITHOUT prints.

My point is, if you want the license faster (who knows) then prints is the way to go!

Also several posts are about being denied (short term) without prints due to being confused with other people with similar names.

Just FYI.

Bubba,

Instructors had to send "prints" with their original "Certified Instructor Application". When the time came for us to apply for our permit to carry the ISP referenced our original prints.

@hrlydrvr

Yeah good to know, instructors info isn't the average mans cup o joe!

But I was wondering if, based on the posts, they were telling students to save the fee and prolong the wait, or even asking if the student was in a bit of a hurry, as most are, and the time frames listed.

Not hating on instructors.......just speaking.

And again.....Thanks.

Bubba,

I can only speak for myself. When I give a class I explain the estimated time frames and that is it. I leave the decision of whether to get prints or not to the student.

mine took 43 days with prints to become active and I should have my license in my hand tomorrow so 34-45 days with prints. Mine and others were slightly delayed due to the new system.

Question about prints.

When you submit prints, do they stay on file forever with the ISP / Government, or are they destroyed right after being used for verification?

I wouldn't mind submitting prints if it was only used for verification, but I do NOT want any of biometric info in some permanent file with the government.

i was also told it doesnt make a difference with or without prints, and its mainly based on how unique your name is. I applied two weeks ago on monday.

What is the average price for prints?

is there a good place in the NW suburbs?

Or should I just go to my local police dept

Local PD or police period can't submit prints for your CCL in IL. It has to be an approved vendor of the State Of IL.

And how unique your name is doesn't have anything to do with it unless your name is Bob Smith then I am sure prints could help. And it does make a huge difference time wise with/without prints.

Good luck be patient and be responsible once you are granted this extremely wonderful privilege.

More specifically, only some police and sheriffs are registered to perform non-criminal prints. Those agencies are out there, but simply having a LiveScan terminal doesn't mean they can perform prints for school workers or CCL applicants.
