Free on recog? Isn't possession of a stolen firearm a felony?

From the way the blog is written, it's not clear if investigators knew at the time of the arraignment that the firearm was stolen. He'd have been arraigned for possession of a firearm without a valid FOID or CCL. It's also not clear where a grand jury later got the multiple aggravated assault charges. He got recognizance release because the arraignment charge was non-violent.

IANAL, but I'm inclined to think that the lack of mention of aggravated assault (even if it was only under investigation at the time) at the arraignment is on the prosecutor, not the judge.

Chicago Justice system:

* Police are told not to arrest people who commit crimes out of fear of being called racist.

* If police DO arrest people, the prosecutors hem an haw on prosecuting them.

* If prosecutors DO manage to prosecute, they plea bargain the vast majority of cases from big time cases to more minor cases.

* If prosecutors DO manage to not plea bargain a case, they drop lots of charges and usually don't throw the book at the offenders, and convictions may or may not happen.

* Judges, if a conviction somehow happens, give the offender slaps on the wrist sentences.

* If Judges DO manage to actually impose decent sentences, the sentences are overturned on appeal

* If the sentence is NOT overturned on appeal, the prison system paroles the offenders at a fraction of their sentences.

The problem is not GUNS. The problem is a justice system that treats criminals as cronies.

Sad part is that CWBChicago is about the only site (other than Kass and Second City Cop) covering the chaos. Chicago's media have sworn their undying love and loyalty to Rahm et al and would rather sacrifice a member of their family than cover a story that paints Tiny Dancer, Foxx, Dart, and the Aldercreatures in a bad light.

Walter Duranty is surely on their their "most admired journalists" list. Silly me, like any of them would even know who Duranty was.

Chicago's media have sworn their undying love and loyalty to Rahm et al

I think the new generation of journalists and broadcasters have a leftist ideology, and people in the media who believe that the highest moral calling is to bring about equality - also believe that bringing about social justice trumps journalistic ethics. To them, if a tenant of journalistic ethics impacts a story in such a way that it doesn't fit the narrative, doesn't further social justice or delivers a setback to social justice - then journalistic ethics itself becomes unethical.

So its not that they're loyal to Rahm Emanuel per se, its that they're loyal to the leftist ideology. They're not news people, they're propagandists seeking to change the very structure of government at all levels in America. They believe good governance is the answer to the human condition. In order for that to work, government must be powerful and the power of individuals to act independently must be curtailed.

The right of the individual to keep and bear arms is particularly irksome for them.

From Walter Duranty To Vicky Pelaez, Communist Penetration of American Journalism Nothing New

For many gun owners, the subversion of the press by the far left wouldn't matter much, except that the leftist journalists keep turning their attention to the work of gutting the Second Amendment.

6 killed, at least 24 wounded in gun violence over Memorial Day weekend

Thankfully Kathleen Willis and Don Harmon are working diligently to end the violence. Their plan is to take away all guns from everyone so that guns can't find their way into the hands of inner city residents.

First Illinois, then all of the United States, then the world... a total gun ban will bring an end to the Chicago killings.

The bad guy does what bad guys do. The Judge does when the Judges do. The bad guy does what bad guys do when they aren't held accountable. The Progressives then point the finger at the NRA and the Politicians take away our gun Rights... all while we are just sitting here, completely and unequivocally uninvolved in the chain of grossly negligent events. The idiocy of the final outcome is incomprehensible.
