Does the Il. CCW require live fire

What would be the benefit of using that...Simuntions is the wax bullet often used in force-on-force training, isn't it? I'd guess the equipment and cost per round is higher than real ammo.

Sec. 75. Applicant firearm training.

 

(c ) An applicant for a new license shall provide proof of certification by a certified instructor that the applicant passed a live fire exercise with a concealable firearm consisting of:

(1) a minimum of 30 rounds; and

(2) 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards; 10 rounds

from a distance of 7 yards; and 10 rounds from a distance of 10 yards at a B-27 silhouette target approved by the Department.

Just to add some extra information, the range qualification for the CCL consists of a total of 30 rounds, fired at 3 different distances (10 rounds at each distance). There is no time limit so you can take your time and aim carefully, and considering the distances aren't very far, and that any shots falling within the rings count, and also that you only need a total of 21/30 qualifying hits...well let's just say one needn't be an expert marksman to pass.
