ChicagoRonin70 Posted April 10, 2017 at 04:55 PM Share Posted April 10, 2017 at 04:55 PM For new ATF chief in Chicago, fighting gangs is personal The new SAC for the ATF in CHI (love all those letters!) is from here and had a cousin killed by gang members when she was a child living in Pilsen. She's known for having an itch for gangbangers committing crimes, for obvious reasons, and is a straight shooter. Maybe now we'll have someone at the ATF locally who put a bite on criminal scumbags preying upon law abiding citizens. Finally, the ATF does something right where Chicago is concerned! This is definitely good news.

ChicagoRonin70 Posted April 11, 2017 at 02:29 AM Author Share Posted April 11, 2017 at 02:29 AM Hopefully DOJ will follow this move up with actually prosecuting the thugs with federal charges. That would be the fervent hope, wouldn't it? As much as the "criminal conspiracy" prosecutions were a good idea, in order to try to target larger and higher up malefactors, some good, old fashioned high-volume prosecutions of the 1,500 or so repeat gun crime offenders with 85% sentences would really pare down the number of shootings since the people actually doing them would be off the streets. GeekDad Posted April 11, 2017 at 12:58 PM Share Posted April 11, 2017 at 12:58 PM Check out SCC from yesterday. Especially the entry "Chiampas Unloads". Doesn't look like anything is going to change anytime soon when it comes to repeat offenders. Here's a CBS local story on it. Thirdpower Posted April 11, 2017 at 01:00 PM Share Posted April 11, 2017 at 01:00 PM Then on the other hand we have this: Associate Judge Peggy Chiampas couldn’t believe what she heard repeatedly from the prosecutor — that the state’s attorney’s office would not pursue charges against suspects on parole or probation, some with armed robbery or aggravated assault convictions, despite clear violations, mostly for being in the company of other known gang members despite conditions of release that forbade it. Chiampas made sure for the record that everyone knew it was the prosecutor’s decision, not hers. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/04/09/judge-prosecutors-gang-members/
