Vote for Bruce Rauner!

No matter what you do when you get to the voting booth...DO NOT VOTE FOR JB! (by either not voting or indirectly voting by writing in or picking a third party) VOTE FOR BRUCE RAUNER! I don't care if you like him or not, think he sucks or not....just vote for the guy and be done with it. The alternative is clearly worse. Think about what the DEMs are doing in this state now. Then picture what they can do under a Dem Gov. Stop complaining, fall in line and keep the gun rights you do have.

"Stop complaining, fall in line and keep the gun rights you do have."

Nothing makes me want to see a ship sink more than when someone comes out and tells me something in that tone. I think someone should bring up the list of all the traitors with Rs in front of their names who voted against our gun rights just recently. Then tell me why it really even matters who the Governor is.

Do you really think Ruaner would have vetoed those last couple bills if it wasn't an election year ? If he didn't lose so much of the conservative base with that sanctuary state garbage ?

If he didn't get the primary reality check he did ? I doubt it.

But yeah, you're right. What else are people on the right in IL gonna do at this point. All we have left is to vote for the lesser of two evils because that's all we gun owners have ever done. Now we are reaping what we have sown with an IL Republican party that might as well be Democrat-Lites when it comes to gun issues.

I wouldn't hold my breath that him getting re-elected is gonna stop you from losing more gun rights.

Just saying....not meant to be aggressive but I at least want to stop the bleeding. We may lose some rights under Rauner but we will most surely lose more if not most 2A rights under JB.

From a practical and logical standpoint alone, what other choice do we have? There are those here who are hung up on principle. I too would love nothing more than a candidate who shared my views down the line. I also know that is never going to happen. I was able to vote for the candidate that more closely held my beliefs in the primary election. It didn't work out. Now I have the choice between mediocre to bad and downright socialist, fruitcake crazy. When you look at things in the proper perspective, it is a no brainer that we all should get behind Rauner.

When left no choice, I'm in for Rauner.

As many of us get closer to renewing our CCL, please keep in mind that it is the Governor who appoints the Concealed Carry License Review Board. The original board appointed by Gov. Quinn was a good part of the reason they were two years behind in reviewing objections. The current board appointed by Gov. Rauner overrides more than 80% of the objections from local law enforcement agencies. For quite some time now, they have been completely caught up on reviewing objections. They worked very hard to catch up, and work hard to stay caught up. The only exceptions are cases where they have requested more information and from local agencies, and those agencies have not responded. We are very lucky Gov. Rauner appointed the individuals he has.

Rumor has it that ISP is planning to treat CCL renewals as a new application, including background check and the objection period. Some of you who had to deal with an objection may have to deal with it again. Some of us who have not had to deal with an objection might have to go through it upon renewal.

Think about that. Who do you want appointing the CCLRB that will review any objections you or your friends may encounty? Gov. Rauner, or J.B. Pritzker?

All of these concerns are non-concerns. A vote for JB is unacceptable to a rights-loving people. Rauner is the only option.

Yes, I agree that Rauner is the only kinda pro-gun snowball with a chance left in IL. We definitely disagree on how much people should be concerned about that.

A vote against Rauner is a vote for JB and Madigan. Might as well bend over.

Any vote other than Rauner and not voting is a Vote for JB

And yet we have Members here who will not cast a Vote for Rauner because of "Principles" Yeah you know who you are

Moderators I kept it Civil

There are many good thought in this thread. All point to a necessary vote by you for Rauner. There is no other option if you like guns.

If you are disturbed that a VERY liberal VERY gun owner would say to you "Please Vote Rauner"... Please don't be disturbed.

Just vote Rauner. And convince your entire social circle to do the same. Screw the polite "Please". Just do it.

Nothing else matters.

Really.

Nothing else matters.

Anyone who doesnt vote for Rauner I will hold responsible for the avalanche of anti gun legislation in the spring that will pass and be signed by Pritzker. Gun dealer licensing, AWBs, mag bans will all get signed by Pritzker. Rauner isn't perfect, but him spending political capital to veto bills that had supermajorities would have been stupid.

Agreed. Just ask yourself what Pritzker’s or any Democrat governor’s vote would have been on some of those bills Rauner vetoed.

Ask yourself what legislation they don't bring because they know it's a waste of time since it won't get a supermajority and will get vetoed. A lot of that type of stuff came around this year because of the political climate and hoping emotional response to attrocity shootings would get them over the hump. How would you like this year to be every year?

This should really be something ALL of us agree on. For any gun owner to vote for Tubby, or to effectively do that by staying home, is just plain stupid. Sorry to be so blunt, but think about it: both of those things will result in every one of those psycho lefty bills brought last year being reintroduced and rubber stamped by the world's heaviest puppet. And they'll probably throw CCL preemption out the door while they're at it.

IOW, if you take your ball and go home, JB will use all his girth to break your door down and steal your ball! (Hey, it looks like a giant jaw breaker!)

There were the bills that got much attn, but overall I think there were over 150 firearms related bills filed and I would bet that 2/3rds+ were anti 2A. A lot of those we did not have to fight too much this year and perhaps seemed silly but if we thought this year was bad, who wants to spend every minute working against things like ammo serialization, ammo tax, ammo purchase FTIPs, fingerprints for FOID cards, AWB, mag restrictions, preemption removal, increased fees, more prohibited places, etc It wont stop. If you support gun rights, I just don't see how you can not support Rauner.

We haven't lost if JB wins... and JB is very likely to sign some blatantly unconstitutional laws that will get overturned after a fight if elected.

That said, it would be a big setback for gun rights.
