Log in on ISP for CCL

Recommended Posts

Was just trying to log into ISP to see if there was a button that I could click to renew my license.

When I click CCL it comes up with a warning and states that FOID card holders can only renew within a certain time frame.....

I click to close the warning and put my credentials in and it states that I can not log in and to check my credentials. I know 100% that my credentials are right as I have them written down in two places. Is the reason I can’t log in because of the fact that I am still to early? Or is there something wrong with my credentials?

When I click forgot password it asks for my username, last name, DOB, and security question but does ask me a question. It just has a space where I’m suppose to put in security question one. I guess I was suppose to right that one down? Using they would ask who was your favorite teacher.

Where is this button people are talking about? I am assuming it would be after you log in.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have not logged in since using the original site 4-5 years ago. ISP revamped the site removing the requirement for Java which caused so many browser and user problems. That in turn required users to re-register with a new account at the site.

If you are not getting the actual question, that means it does not recognize your user ID. Yes, they updated the system in 2015-16 and you may need to register a new account. It may not accept the same email address, it may say it is already in use and you will have to use a different email address.

Probably too early also.... 5 months before you expire, should be a magic button appearing. Not confirmed though.

What if you can't remember your username? I tried registering again, but it shows my email is already registered. No way that I can tell to recover username.

Thought they used to have recovery for a forgotten ID but dont see anything for that now.

You could call but who knows how long you will need to wait or how many times to try. (217) 782-7980.

I've read you can create new credentials using a different email address.

Using a different email address is probably the easiest.

I created a new i.d. today using a different e-mail address then had no trouble signing in to isp website. When you are on sign-in page hit the NEW USER button and answer all the questions take about 5 mins. creates new user and passwords. Thanks for the info Interested and Marie

I had an issue logging in to the ISPFSB site a couple of weeks ago. I had my userid and password so I figured I needed to reset the password. When I clicked reset my password and entered my information and such the site was asking about security questions but there was only a blank field with no question.

After going back and trying to enter my userid and password several times (and being locked out a couple of times) I finally gave in and called the ISP (217) 782-7980.

The nice lady asked me for my information and the answers to my challenge questions. Once we confirmed I was using the correct userid she made sure I was not trying to logon with a smart phone. I told her I was using Chrome on a desktop and she told me not to use Chrome but to use Internet Explorer. Once I used Internet Explorer and clicked Forgot Password everything worked the way it should and I was able to reset my password myself.

She told me two other things, your password should be between 8 and 10 characters and do not use the special characters @ or #

It seems everyone has different experiences logging on but maybe something here will help a few.

Couple days I had no problem loggin just to check for giggles.

Tomorrow will make 120 days for my CCL renewal. Since this topic came up in the "new posts" feed, I decided to log in again. I am using Chrome on Windows. This is what I see...

System Alert!Close

DO NOT ATTEMPT WITH A SMART PHONE OR TABLET. Errors from mobile interface can result in application denial. Only attempt renewal within 90 days of your expiration date. Finally, please ensure your address on file with the Secretary of State is up-to-date because applications and SOS addresses MUST match.

Confirmed. Tablet? I use a surface pro which I guess is a tablet. This is bizarre.

I use a surface book. I think that message is a message everyone sees regardless. I was able to log in after posting this. I didn't mean to confuse.

I logged in from an iMac and saw the same message a couple of days ago but today (about 3 minutes ago), the message did not pop up. Maybe it pops up once for each person but the makes no sense. Oh! Well IL afterall.

I was one of the earliest applicants when Illinois CCW was instituted (expiration is Feb. 28 2019) I just completed my 3 hr. renewal training and tried to log in. I got a message that said I had not set up the security questions and I needed to contact ISP. I went to the online form for submitting a question and it says my license no. is not valid because it should be 13 digits. mine is only 10. I called the number given above and got a recorded message: "....Call back later. Good by".

Sheesh! what a (_%&*@#%&_@.

Yes, they should handle it better i.e. not display security questions if youve never set them up and need to reregister...but your answer is above in the thread. I would email the address directly and not use form if emailing them.

Reading through this thread I dug up my old user ID and password from five years ago when IE and Java was required. No such luck logging in. I did however create a new account. Putting what worked for me here to help others.

- Using a Mac and Chrome (no Internet Explorer or Java required)

- Registered as a new user

- Created a new user ID

- Used the same email address from five years ago

- Set up all four security questions

- Put in drivers license and FOID number

- Followed password rules that are displayed as you type out your password. Simple letter number combo with one special character and some capitalization.

Once you are successful you'll get to the IL CC Application - Dashboard that shows your FOID and CCL status, issued and expiration dates along with payment information.

I don't see any "Renew" button but maybe because I about six months out from my CCL expiration date still.
