SB2539 Amendment, Page 19, Sect. 70 (f): If this passes, will it be illegal to be above .08 at HOME while having a loaded uncased firearm accessible or on your person??
The way I understand the law now as it is, it would not be illegal.
I will assume that many firearm owner while at home sometimes go over .08 while having loaded firearms accessible. Does anyone else see a problem with this?? Why would we make something that is now legal, illegal???

Only problem with the courts is that those lawsuits are not doing very well and setting a bunch of bad legal precidents in their wake. I would rather see the bill pass and the fallout from the lawsuits end.

Good Lord....more taxes. I've been listening this morning. I really think all these people do is go to work all day and dream up new ways to tax us. A tax on nudey clubs to help rape victims???? You want to help rape victims...PASS THE RTC BILL!!! They won't be a victim!! I have to go to work, certainly appreciate those that listen to this "stuff" all day. Thanks.

If the .08 thing is the biggest problem I can live with it. It's no big deal

The current crop of lawsuits will end when the right to bear arms, outside of the home, is recognized by the SCOTUS. Passage of a carry bill will not stop the remaining suits that have been filed across the country. Yes there are criminal (and some civil) cases that are setting 'bad precedent,' but the right cases are working their way up.

Is it possible for us to hold up HB3881 in the senate or elsewhere until a carry bill is passed?
I am guessing that it is past that point, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

It doesn't matter what is or isn't on the calendar. A bill can come up anywhere at any time.

That's what I'm trying to find out. From the 'Urgent Action' thread, the bill is in committee and needs to be moved out by Madigan. It's unknown at this point if Madigan will allow it out or not.

On an off-topic note - for anyone wondering how our state government is so bloated, overspent, and inefficient .... you just heard it. They opened a new office, authorized multiple new positions... with admittedly NO IDEA what it will cost. And no evidence that it will have a positive outcome.

yesterday's action was concurrence on a Senate amendment to a house bill. Final action. It's on it's way to the Gov. That's what made is such a good target to use to leverage votes. Why our friendly reps didn't chose to take advantage of that is beyond me.

Because the bill itself isn't anything important to chicago reps. If we amended something they really wanted it might have had some leverage.

"Less than 1 gallon of gas per year." Yeah, sure, but you do that for this bill, and so do 10 others this session. Then the people of IL are on the hook for 10 gallons of gas per year. Do that every session and you can see why even "small" tax and fee increases upset me.

I've taken to running both. I mute the video player, and listen to audio. That way if I want to see for a sec, I can look, but it's more reliable. And my audio was pretty good, but a bit choppy as I type this.
