IGOLD 2018 Photo / Video Thread

I had just walked out of the upper senate gallery and was stopped for an interview by WCIA 3 News (Champaign, I believe). Questions on SB1657, general gun thoughts and a few other points. I don't see the video posted online yet, but if I do find it, I'll be sure to update it on here.

PS: My first IGOLD and I had a great time! Can't wait to come back next year.

I will reveal / post more later in a different thread, but I am a MOST CONSERVATIVE estimator of crowd size, judged during the speeches, to see if an adequate number of signs are waiting. With at least ten events over 8 years as practice.

I had a "holy ....!!!!! " moment when I walked *(rolled) in .

(sort of like the off color General Custer joke - "LOOK at ALL those .indians")

( "I DON'T have enough signs out OR SPACE to lay out more signs!!!!" )

I will analyze my pictures later (I JUST got home) for confirmation. but I would put the crowd at 1900 plus or minus 100.

That is a heck of a lot more than the previous years.

I won't be stealing much of my own (later) thunder by revealing that after the crowd had passed by the sign tables, there were

NONE

left!!!!!!!!

They are ALL in my minivan right now....

(estimated at 725 or so signs - the back of the van is FULL!!)

And I am exhausted, limp and Jubilant!!

So the tribune again is unbelievable, and what's with the secretary of State?

two thousand is a reasonable number judged by the crowd stationary in the seats during the speeches.

There were people in the mezzanine, and standing in the periphery aisles. As well as groups of people standing around in the other areas inside, as well as standing around in groups on the OUTSIDE of the building.

It will be hard to estimate the main floor density because

I didn't have TIME to get up to the mezzanine to finish my usual picture taking. So the extra 500 in the 2500 reported by CBS2 is entirely plausible to my usual very skeptically critical self.

Outstanding!!! I apologize from points southwest that I wasn’t able to be there to take part.

Mark, I remember meeting you at Todd’s water maneuvers a couple of years ago, and remember talking about how much work you put into the signs. If nobody’s said it today, I want to give you a big vote of thanks and a round of applause for all of the support work with the signs that you put into IGOLD. Thanks!!

Thank you. Between the Thanks of those there, and the sheer exhilaration of seeing ALL those signs being marched,

it MORE than makes up for the long numbing repetitive hours, rubber cement fumes and everything else.

There is a unique feeling to looking at a pile of two reams (1000 sheets) of paper close to 6 inches tall

and realizing that by the time you are done you will have handled each and every one for at least 15 seconds

and run through up to 3 QUARTS of rubber cement.

the aftermath:

See the three stacks? There are three more facing in the opposite direction.

Mark, Today I carried one of those signs you made. I was honored and proud to hold it high and show it to everyone we passed. It was my first IGOLD and I was so happy to see I would get a sign to carry. THANK YOU.

My first IGOLD, but will not be my last. It was a lot of fun! I was honored to be there with true patriotic citizens and I think everyone represented themselves well. Met Molly B. In person 😃 also thanks markthesignguy, that was A LOT of signs. Here are some of my pics:
