Weed Posted January 30, 2019 at 08:33 PM Share Posted January 30, 2019 at 08:33 PM The DNR and game wardens can do just about anything they want to, the law is on their side.
Ranger Posted November 23, 2019 at 10:53 PM Share Posted November 23, 2019 at 10:53 PM Searched and this was closest thread I found... My 7 year old son wants to go deer "hunting" tomorrow. We don't have permits so definitely not going hunting, but thought might go sit in woods a while. Thought about carrying a Sig 365 (which is not something I'd carry to hint deer with) just because; but don't want to run afoul of law. Would it be legal? THE KING Posted November 24, 2019 at 03:43 AM Share Posted November 24, 2019 at 03:43 AM If you're not hunting and you're on your own land then you are doing nothing illegal by carrying. Being your land you can carry openly or concealed and you only need a FOID card.
speedbump Posted November 24, 2019 at 11:45 AM Share Posted November 24, 2019 at 11:45 AM I brought this up with Senator Fowler, Rep Severin, and an IDNR spokesman at a legislative forum in Marion last month. The politicos seemed confused at first, but even the IDNR guy agreed that it was BS, especially on private property, and they agreed to try to achieve a fix. Would it be legal?Even on public land you would be legal to carry concealed if you have a concealed carry license. Deer season doesn't own the woods, perfectly legal to go on a hike (maybe not the case on all public lands) and perfectly legal to carry with permissions on the kingdom.
