IH8IL Posted September 17, 2020 at 03:39 PM Share Posted September 17, 2020 at 03:39 PM I need to renew my foid but I cant get my laptop to work. I can sign in thru my iphone ans answer the questions and everything. Why is it that isp says the app isnt smartphone friendly? Has anyone ever gotten a clear answer? When I did my ccw, I applied thru my phone and everything went smoothly.

IH8IL Posted September 17, 2020 at 04:17 PM Author Share Posted September 17, 2020 at 04:17 PM I guess my laptop is too old and won’t connect since the certs are expired and theres no support. Guess I have to buy a new laptop to renew. Will safari work to renew or does it have to be a windows based system?

IH8IL Posted September 17, 2020 at 07:19 PM Author Share Posted September 17, 2020 at 07:19 PM I got it done at the computer at the shop. I was having a problem with the pic loading sideways and found a tip here to edit the photo and save it. I did that and it loaded fine.
InterestedBystander Posted September 17, 2020 at 09:09 PM Share Posted September 17, 2020 at 09:09 PM I did my initial app back in 2013/2014 on a tablet. Not long after they started putting out the alert not to use a phone or tablet as it was not a mobile app. Supposedly some answers would be changed to a disqualifier. Really...how foolishly absurd is that? 2020, now years later and it seems they have made no attempt to fix. They need a new software consulting firm...although Appriss has supposedly done other state CCL systems...did the ISP just give crap requirements and sloppy QA? IMO there are zero valid reasons for this not to work on multiple platforms, operating systems and browsers.
joedav1228 Posted September 30, 2020 at 02:21 PM Share Posted September 30, 2020 at 02:21 PM Did you try going to the library and using their computer systems? Library, FedEx, internet café, friends house, relatives..... don't give in and chance it on a phone or tablet, it's not worth the long term risk. Sol-Invictus Posted October 19, 2020 at 12:32 PM Share Posted October 19, 2020 at 12:32 PM We have used Brave and Firefox with success. 4xs for CCL original and renewals on phones and tablets. Never used a laptop. I work for the state and our IT foks do not have a clue.
Flynn Posted October 19, 2020 at 07:02 PM Share Posted October 19, 2020 at 07:02 PM They need a new software consulting firm... The only way it gets fixed in Illinois is with a prevailing lawsuit.
