Davidmchicago Posted July 2, 2019 at 07:49 PM Share Posted July 2, 2019 at 07:49 PM So I need to change my address on my drivers license so my CCL can be changed! I think it was returned since it was not forwarded to my new address. My question is do I fiscally have to go to the dmv and change it, or is it ok to just change it on there website? Changing it on there website will not change it on my drivers license, but it will be changed in the dmvs system. What should I do? Renewed CCL and back active since may 28th. Need some advice! Also if anyone may know the turnaround on both methods?
Glock23 Posted July 2, 2019 at 08:27 PM Share Posted July 2, 2019 at 08:27 PM Update your DL online. Give it a day or two just to be safe, then do the address change on your CCL/FOID, which will cost you $80 and put you back "under review" for another 60 to 90 days, give or take. axel2078 Posted July 3, 2019 at 12:23 PM Share Posted July 3, 2019 at 12:23 PM I was in your shoes back in May, except I was still waiting for my CCL renewal to go active. It went active at the end of April and I didn't get my card before I moved on May 8th, so I'm guessing it was mailed out and returned to the ISP because my status went from Active to Under Review shortly after the move. Immediately after moving, I updated my driver's license info electronically with the IL Secretary of State website. A few days after that, I did the FOID change of address thing, which was $6.00 after the service fee I believe. As soon as I did that, my FOID status went from Active to Under Review. A few weeks later, I went into the DMV to get a new license printed with my new address (which is kind of irrelevant I guess). Anyway, 31 days later, my FOID status went Active (last Friday). Yesterday morning, my CCL status was "Submitted". A few hours later it moved to "QC_Verified" and then later in the day it moved to "Approved." I'm still waiting for it to go Active. If you were not in the process of renewing, you will probably have to pay the $5.00 FOID reprint fee and then the $75 CCL reprint fee.
GWBH Posted July 3, 2019 at 03:59 PM Share Posted July 3, 2019 at 03:59 PM Get out your wallet and be prepared to be fleeced...I know - I had to change my address last year. Didn't physically move - just got 911 service in the county.
Davidmchicago Posted July 4, 2019 at 12:18 AM Author Share Posted July 4, 2019 at 12:18 AM Yep got through finally to there bs telephone number! My CCL was forwarded back. She had it in her hand and she said she was going to put it in the shredder. She said everything was fine, but unfortunately I have to pay $75 to change address on the CCL and $5 for my foid plus a small service charge. Will be about 30 days til I see my new cards if I'm lucky.
